No: 08-018 State Of Alaska Joins Texas Amicus Brief

February 8, 2008, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced the State of Alaska will join the multi-state amicus brief authored by the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment right of individual Americans to bear arms.

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008, Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg notified Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott that Alaska would sign on to the brief. The Texas amicus brief in the case Washington, D.C. v. Heller will be filed by February 11, 2008.

Governor Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, has long been a champion of the constitutional right to bear arms, as well as a proponent of gun safety programs for Alaska’s youth.

“I am proud to join the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment,” Governor Palin said. “We need to send a strong message that law-abiding citizens have a right to own firearms, for personal protection, for hunting and for any other lawful purpose.”

>> The GOP could do a lot worse than she!

> Just realized I used a poor gramatical construction. >blush!< While what I wrote could be correct, what I really meant was to say "worse than nominating her"

Oh, hell, we know what you meant.

Beautiful women get me flustered, too...

That would make a nice campaign poster for a McCain-Palin ticket.

Can you imagine all the political reporting, augmented with Sarah's pic up against Hillary's?

Clinton would become invisible.

Read the second link in comment# 1. They could organize their own militias and arm them with more than small arms, i.e. hanguns, rifles and shotguns. The National Guard is a federal organization that the feds lend to the governors when they're not activated for federal purposes.

It was a grass roots movement that organized in most states for shall issue concealed carry privileges. Alaska went from privilege to right like Vermont has always been. Wyoming got one house in its legislature to make it a right.

Alleged sketch-from-photo of Sarah in younger days

Where's her tattoo of the rose and .45? Oh, maybe it was the next summer that she got it.

And of course, in that pose, you can't see the other one... the . You do know that stands for "Gondring," right? Maybe her hubby made her get it removed.

;-)

Hope I haven't offended anyone with this joking around, but I'm sure I have.

I'd rather have a Cleese-Palin ticket.

I'll cut her slack for the names of her kids, but let's not let her near any new Navy ships...

LOL! EXACTLY!

Not me, man. I love this stuff.

Besides, it's late on a snowy night. No holds are barred.

Probably something like no more than 6+1, no round in the chamber, safety on, plus some other BS to that effect.

I'm wishing I were back up in New York State...dang, I miss a good honest snow, rather than "wintry mix" we get all the time down here.

Was looking at historical photos of the area recently, and it struck me how often there was snow way back when. (They are construction progress photos taken at regular intervals, so it's not just "hey, it snowed--take a pic!" sampling bias.) Even if there's nothing we can do about it, climate change can be irritating sometimes.

The SC will rule that the 2A is indeed an individual right, BUT government has the power to reasonably restrict access/use.

Yep.

Right now it's a few inches of ultra-fine, tiny flakes, almost like confectioner's sugar. Don't feel bad, they're predicting "wintry mix" for us in the morning.

Slush-fest!

Meaning the DC Circuit decision stands. Then why even take the case?

You are right. They CAN’T rule otherwise. There’s too much power and control at stake. I mean, we can’t have freedom breaking out all over the place can we?
