RIP. Prayers for his family. What a shame he stayed in Congress so long that he didn’t get to enjoy retirement.

I used to love to listen to him talk. Never agreed with him on anything but you had to like that accent.

I too disagreed with virtually every political position the man took. However, now’s not the time to take Parthian shots at him. I’ll pray for the repose of his soul. RIP Rep. Lantos.

As much as he disliked our military, he went to the Navy for help. HUH May God comfort his family at this time.

I despised the man's politics and I believe he was wrong about many things, but we all become equal in the eyes of the Creator after we die.

May he find favor with God and pass on to glory.

Somebody posted this news on Glock Talk and immediately posted a really hateful remark. The thread was locked. Seeing as how the deceased hailed from San Fran, I’m assuming he was waaaaay to the left.

I heard about this on the radio while driving home from work.

The only Holocaust survivor to ever serve in the US Congress. I may not have agreed with his voting record in Congress, but I respect and admire his courage and bravery.

Cancer of the esophagus is not an easy way to go. Prayers offered up for his family during this difficult time.

Here is a guy who survived the Holocaust but spent his public service career implementing the main points of the Nazi agenda here in America.

Yes, he was a liberal Democrat on domestic issues, but he was a lion on human rights, and very consistent, evenhanded, in his approach. RIP.

Tidbits from Wiki about Lantos and his family:

. . .was reelected 13 times. He was the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in Congress.
Lantos and his wife Annette have two daughters, Annette and Katrina, and 17 grandchildren. Lantos' wife is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon church). Annette Lantos is a first cousin of the sisters Zsa Zsa, Eva, and Magda Gabor.
Katrina, who married ambassador and former U.S. Representative from New Hampshire Richard Swett, was a candidate for Congress in New Hampshire, running for the House of Representative in 2002 against Charlie Bass and in 2008 for the U.S. Senate against John Sununu.
His daughter Annette is married to Timber Dick, "an independent businessman in Colorado."[6]
