Rep. Tom Lantos Dies

Congressman Tom Lantos of California has died. Lantos was the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in Congress. His spokeswoman says he died early Monday morning.

Lynne Weill said that Lantos, 80, passed away at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center in suburban Maryland.

Lantos was a Dem. Rest in Peace. I had never heard of him before his grilling and abuse of General Petraeus last September.

Maybe you mean Wexler? Lantos did challenge Gen. Petraeus, but accepted his answer with a "thank you very much".

How many commentators, on- or off-screen, will want to remind us of the total commitment Lantos made to the cause of the FBI and the BATF during the Waco hearings? Or the excuses he made for the contrived "taking babies out of incubators" testimony (later proven false) given to his committee after the first Gulf War?

The guy had high ideals, you have to admit: Communists and Nazis were all wrong, but JBTs in our own gummint are always right.

I was a left winger back in the 70’s but by 1984 I was a Reagan campaign volunteer. I’ve been an a conservative pro-life activist since. McCain is still better than a President Obama or President Clinton II. Win the war on terror by 2012 and deal with President McCain in the 2012 primaries. Bottom line is you support your party’s nominee. As I mentioned in a post to someone else, to paraphrase Donald Rumsfelt, “You go to war with the Party you have.”

Well I have never been liberal or a flower child. My mother insists that I pointed to the Rep side of the ballot when I was 5 years old. That said a couple of things:

No way we win the WOT by 2012 or even 2050 the way it is being fought. If we go hot then we could but in order to stop the radicals in their current numbers it would take decimating the breeders by over 75%. We do not have the will to do that. They are breeding faster than we are killing them and there is not end in sight for that.

In an odd way I think Hillary may be tougher on the WOT than any of the others. She will not want to appear to be a weak woman.

If this country elects Obama all is lost anyway and the the road back from that mistake is bloody and long. The fascists will have won.

See there is the rub. I do not have a party anymore. They have spent the last five years doing everything they can to kick me and my friends out. My only choice is to form my own party or join another one. They clearly do not care about my input after I have spent $1,000's supporting them - basically they can go F' themselves. McCain is at the least insane and at the worst a megalomaniac. I have a very great deal of concern that he is indeed the Manchurian Candidate (probably more like the Havana Candidate).

No sir, I am tired of having my face rubbed in RINO poo and I am not taking it anymore. The only donations I have made this cycle are to Tancredo and FRed - and now I am sorry I gave to FRed.

Tom Lantos represents all the good intentions I admire about the do-gooder liberals. He was truly a remarkable man who I respected greatly and will respect for the rest of my life. He really wanted to do a good job for the people of America. He really loved the United States of America and what it stands for. True I disagree with him about certain philosophies, namely that BIG GOVERNMENT is a big problem. I believe that do-gooder-liberal programs actually create more problems oftentimes than they solve. But I admire Lantos’s courage and hope for these programs despite the realities that they usually don’t succeed.
