There's an old Groucho Marx riff in which he launches a new career as a stick-up artist -- while worrying that his native cowardice may not induce the requisite fear among his victims. Sure enough, after a little time in a dark alley he springs out to confront his first victim, points his gun to his own head and says, "Take one step closer and I'll kill myself."
Such is the posture today among pundits on the far right of the Republican Party as Sen. John McCain moves closer to receiving his party's nomination. Consider the destructive implications of their pledge to work against Mr. McCain's nomination and even -- in the event he is nominated -- not to vote in the general election. Start with where it would leave our country -- presumably under the leadership of either Democrat candidate -- in the two domains where we will face critical challenges in the years ahead: our national security and the threat of an economic meltdown.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
The GOP has gone beyond differences of opinion ... is about principles being brutally violated and the expectation is to embrace LEFTIST principles. It’s got to come to an end and for us it has.
Not voting for any Democrat even if they claim to be Republican. Let the chips fall where they may. Scare tactics simply don’t matter.
I’d rather die with my honor, ideals and hopes intact than lick the boots of the likes of John McCain. Sometimes winning at any cost isn’t worth the cost.
I’m guessing the WSJ is a fan of corporate internationalism. Birds of a feather flock together.
Signed up in November 2007, hey??
Verrrrrrrrrrry interesting!!!!
Amazing how McCain has released his apologists to stir up support for him from people he scorned and people who have no real reason to give him there vote.
McCain’s behavior in Washington speaks for him - that’s enough to keep me from the polls in November.
As President Reagan once told me, “Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff.”
It is beyond strange for Bud to do a riff on killing oneself.
Now why is the date of my sign up interesting? You have a conspiracy theory about that?
Well maybe YOU shouldnt vote.Voters should base their choice on records not by media
But cutting off ones nose to spite ones face is still bad for the nation’s future...and our troops in Iraq
Guessing?
LOL I hope he doesnt leave a mess *L*
I agree totally. and that is exactly what some are doing. cutting off their nose to spite their face
“Surely Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter can agree that these challenges are terribly demanding and cannot be left to luck or divine providence. Finally, there is the cost of their extremist rhetoric to the Republican Party. As President Reagan once told me, “Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff.”
Frankly, McCain, Huckabee can’t handle it either. Some people have principles and some don't. Constantly compromising on principles that are extremely important had gotten us to the situation the GOP is in - not standing for anything but self promotion and grabbing power by the candidates. The election is NOT about YOU. It's ALL about THEM.
Ronald Reagan would NEVER, EVER approve of McCain or Huckabee. HUckabee is just plain stupid. McCain will have melt downs all the time as well as being a leftist like Huckabee.
The Abomination and Hitlery ... well why bother to discuss them.
The bigger question is how fast do you want to go into U.S. destruction? Within the speed limit? Then vote for McCain or Huckabee. If you want to exceed the speed limit, then vote for a Demoncrat. With the candidates running, either Demoncrat or RHINO, they will both get you to the same destination with the same results.
It’s the KIND of GOP candidates we have, McCain and Huckabee - they aren’t ready for prime time. Neither is up to the job. It’s time for PRINIPLES, not electability or compromise on principle took center stage. Back tracking and compromising on principle has gotten us to such lousy candidates.
You are a terrible writer *L* that sign is pretty messy *L*
