I wanted to tell you personally about a conversation that I had with Senator McCain earlier today before his CPAC speech.
In this time of war and economic uncertainty, America must have strong, principled leadership. The first and foremost priority of the federal government is National Security, and, we must have a President who will do what is needed to protect America and the American people. It is imperative that we have a Commander in Chief who will not bow to pressure when the political waters become rough. As a fellow member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I have witnessed John McCains principled leadership on critical national security issues.
I, like most of you, am deeply concerned with wasteful and excessive Washington spending, and I have also worked side by side with John McCain taking on special interests and fighting the tough battles on behalf of the American taxpayer. While it is true that we have had some principled disagreements on some issues, including certain areas of immigration reform, John McCain is a man of principle and conviction. He shares my deep commitment to reaching a comprehensive solution to immigration reform and I look forward to working with him on this issue when he is President.
With the recent decision by a number of the other candidates to step aside, now is the time for the Republican Party to come together and stand behind Senator McCain. For these reasons, I am honored to endorse him for President of the United States today and will do whatever I can to support his candidacy.
Sincerely, John Cornyn
Hunter in the Texas primary. Hunter on election night.
So did George Allen, Jr.; the man on everyone’s short list for a third party challenge.
He’s my Senator.
I say let’s not vote any incumbent back into office. There are plenty of good people out there.
How did he skyrocket from the basement up to having the nomination in such short time? Seems like a fix in is.
The fix being that he received more primary votes and delegates than his opponents.
LOL you guys are acting like spoiled brats. I cant believe you all. You werent for romney for months now all of a sudden he is the coming of jesus *L* Mccain is a good man he will make a fine president. And by the way Media played no part in my decision. I have always liked him. and the only news I watch is fox *L*
With McCain we stand to lose more of our constitutional liberties (think McCain-Feingold), with Hillary we might (inchoate fear) lose the country whole experiment.
Maybe what you call the republican party can do so, but if that means this, then see ya.
vote for this??
Mccain is a good man he will make a fine president.
Delusional. Take meds.
Oops. There you are again with the LOL. Did you find the emoticons?
I am not a spoiled brat - I want the elected officials to realize this is a constitutional republic, not grab-bag of goodies with which to buy votes and grow government. We’ve had too many compromises. McCain is a compromise too far.
Is McCain really any worse than Bush I, Bush II, Dole, Ford or Nixon? I know I would put McCain above at least 3 of those.
This isn’t going to be a hold your nose November. It’s going to be a hold your nose, cover your ears, shut your eyes and by all means blot our your memories November.
I will likely simply not vote for President. I’ve thought for months that congressional RINOs will oppose any DemocRAT president on party lines, while going whole-hog along with similar destructive programs if led by a RINO in the White House.
To party oriented pols priciple is unimportant.
Winning is everything.
Ethics, beliefs and principles are just words to use in campaign ads.
These people would endorse Hillary Clinton if she agreed to run as a Republican.
Look at New York City.
One of the most rabid socialists in the country, a life long democrat, can’t get the democrat party to endorse him for Mayor.
So he changes his registration to republican and the republican party endorses him and supports his election.
if repubs call each other rinos do dems call each other dinos?
Each of the other men would at least work with their own party. John doesn’t even make a pretense of that. He’s worse than them all IMO. Which of those men worked to form a consensus with Teddy Kennedy?
