Romney out. Congratulations Freepers on ensuring there was no conservative in the race. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/07/2008 9:51:12 AM PST by mbraynard

You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.

So, nice work.

Thank you :) I had a blast. Hell, I stayed up way past my bedtime because I was having fun and interesting conversations. ITA about the lousy mood, I was in one recently and read a thread on here (it was when edwards dropped out of the race)and it cracked me up. The posts/posters were so funny. I read lots of confrontational threads/posts, too and sometimes join in but I prefer the humor.

Hmmm. Considering how to do that (make her a resident of PA) but don’t want to do anything illegal or shady([plus, I’m sure they check). She’s a junior now and if we changed her residence to my one bro’s house we’d have to pay out of district tution for the high school and it’s almost as much as one year in state tuition at penn state. I think it’s about $12,000. Penn State is a great school and I’d love for her or any of my kids to go there (biased) but at thte same time, they can’t just go anywhere they want unless they get tons of scholarship money. Fortunately, I WANTED to go to Penn State so it was a no brainer for me. My dad told me wished he could afford to send me to Notre Dame and it was my 2nd choice but I knew we couldn’t afford it. I lucked out going to my 1st choice school (getting early acceptance, it being the school I wanted to attend, etc.) and it being the state school of the state I lived in.

However, I’m thinking there has to be a way for her to go to Penn State and pay in state tuition, lol. There has to be.

Thanks. I don’t know if we deserve it but I’m so tired of paying for those who get a free ride in life on my taxes. I’m seriously concerned about this country and what I see coming. Why does anyone want or expect the government to take care of them? Where’s the dignity in that?

I’m sure our spouses and kids would love that ;)

I take it you meant that in a fun way. I’m never sure with this posting thing.

LOL! I am way too behind on posts. Hell no, I ain’t wearing one of those. I’m very proud of my t-shirt that says, in another language and in English, I WILL NOT SUBMIT. I’d rather be dead, personally. WTH (see I do know some abbreviations) is going on in this world when countries are even considering allowing this type of law/custom/culture? I was a little kid when my oldest bro was a teacher and he got told he wasn’t allowed to wear the gold chain with crucifix while on the job. He told them he’d take it off when they made a female teacher at his school stop wearing her head gear (scarf thing). They told him that it was her culture and he said, well, I’m an italian/irish catholic and it’s our culture to wear gold religious symbols as jewelry, lol. Again, I was a kid but recall that so clearly. And that was back in the late 70’s. It was also around the time he brought some flier fundraiser thing into my parents home (where I and a couple sibs were still living) that stated something about how it’d be a great day when the military has to hold bake sales for funds and education no longer has to. Something like that. My dad freaked! Get that out of my house type of thing. That was during my eldest bro’s lib period, lol/but he drew the line at the cross necklace. I was just a kid but recall that so clearly. My dad was all (paraphrased) you wouldn’t have the freedom to teach if it wasn’t for the military, lol. And all the while, my italian mom is telling everyone to just sit at the table and eat and my older sibs are joking about where the beer is (I didn’t understand it at the time but sure do now since all family holiday dinners are at my house).

So was George W. Bush when he was an adult running for an earlier office.

And so was Fred Thompson.

I'll take the correction on his retirement, but you again proving yourself an absolute flipping mongrel retard as usual.

Every... every exit poll showed those who identified themselves as 'conservative' overwhelmingly voting for Romney.

Care to explain that or is it hard to talk with McCain's junk in your mouth?

It is pretty obvious that the opposition of some prominent so-called conservatives to McCain is personal and not based on conservatism because Mitt is less conservative than McCain.

Exit polls don't lie. Mitt overwhelmed the majority of the self-identified conservatives in every state.

She revealed to me, after we married, that she had voluntarily undergone sterilization because she didn't want to interrupt her career with kids.

WTF. Talk about a thread jack. Dude, if I was with a woman who did that, that would be the last conversation we had. That is what annulment exists for.

To each his own, of course, but damn.

It’s not a thread jacking when the thread is already dead.

By the way, how are you feeling today? Did you take my advice and down a few?

Seriously, I’ve been where you are and sympathize with your frustration. I’m glad to see you weren’t zotted. Others have been dispatched for lesser offenses.

That burqua post was a slam for at JRochelle’s post 566. JRochelle slammed us both in that post, so when I hit back, being the good FReeper that I am, I copied you because you were being discussed.

I have more to say, but not now.

Oh I get it :) I was teasing about the burka. Ithought the pic was funny. And my post was meant to be a joke in a serious way.

I really dont’ think my posts come off as I mean them to. I suck at this stuff.

If you all want to play this game - we can say you didn't get behind Hunter, Thompson, or Tancredo

Oh, I agree. Romney was like the 3rd or 4th from the bottom of my list. McCain and Ron Paul being the last 2 on my list. I mentioned Romney only because he was the most recent and last standing republican before McCain. This problem is not in FR. FR is just a good way to measure where we conservatives stand nationwide. When Hunter dropped out those Hunter supporters continued to stand behind Hunter instead of getting behind Tancredo or Thompson. When Tancredo stepped down the Tancredo supporters refused to vote for a "liberal" like Thompson. My point is, instead of going and standing behind another conservative still in the race many continued to rally around conservatives already dropped out as if they were in some kind of denial. Fred Thompson (or the next conservative in line still in the race) could have used those votes.

And we all know that those exit polls are so reliable!

And they showed Romney did win more of the very conservative vote, but is sure as hell wasn’t overwhelming!

No Republican can win in a general election with negatives that reach into the high 40’s. That was Romeny, not McCain.

I don’t like him but I do see him as the only guy left in this sorry lot that is able to beat Hillary.

Yes I was teasing!

Explanation accepted.

There have been a few who have met here and later married. But they were single.

I'm soon to be divorced and will never marry again. My wife has delivered to me a painful lesson about trusting too much. She also confirmed for me the true evil that exists inside the outer facades of committed liberals.

But it's all right now, I learned my lesson well.

I wasn't ever angry -just kind of having a laugh. But it seemed to go for 600 and was the most entertaining thread on FR ever - for me anyway. At one point I just decided to try and get banned - I used a lot of profanity and even personally invited the moderator to felate me - yet I am still here.

Anyway, I'm not a drinker.

Something that I do find troubling though and no one has pointed out is that McCain has won the nomination with more people voting against him than in 2000. So despite getting a much lower percentage than in 2000 in all of these states, he has earned the nomination.

I agree that it was an entertaining thread. Whenever VKs show up, you know you’re in for a rough ride. I’m glad you weren’t zotted.

I still think you crossed the line with the profanity. Profanity may provoke others, but it does nothing to forward your argument and loses for you the respect of most of your fellow FReepers - especially when the profanity is directed at a FReeper. That respect is hard to regain.

I think you were shown leniency because you were a Romney supporting, veteran FReeper who was “blowing off steam.” Normally, profanity-containing posts are pulled and the poster gets at least a suspension and sometimes a full Zot for followup profane posts. Tanaka (post 30) got zotted in this thread for insulting FReepers and JimRob without profanity, but Tanaka was a noob.

I look forward to “clean” sparring with you in the future. If you enjoy raucous and entertaining threads, have Darkwing104 add you to the VK list.
