You mean you would swap one liberal for another and call it a done deal?

I think a Romney/Huckabee ticket might right now the only way for the Republicans to get out of this current divided mess.

No ticket with McCain on it will be able to unify the party.

But a Romney/Huckabee ticket would satisfy both the economic and social conservatives, solidify both the south and the mountain states for the Republican ticket, and potentially make a play for states such as Michigan to build a electoral majority.

There are a lot of people here that are sorely disappointed at yesterday's events. Their candidate, whoever they are, lost, won or is just hanging on. All have derisive names for others' candidates; all are vehemently opposed to the others' candidates. One thing will unite them come November. They will be lamenting that a Democrat will be taking the oath of office in January 2009.

There was no Republican entrant who was a 'Ronald Reagan Conservative', there was no candidate who was conservative - period! Instead, we have a slate of phonys, slicksters, RINOS, and one agenda-idealists. That person, the Ronald Reagan Conservative, doesn't exist at the moment. It will take 8 years of unbelievable taking of freedom, wealth and oppression to bring this person to the forefront. Let's just hope there are enough left to do something about it.

McCain can’t win against Obama because he’s a traitor to his party, splitting it down the middle and he probably knows this. He wants to get back at conservatives for rejecting him in 2000.

I think they could win if they worked together. I don’t expect them to work together.

Rush spoke of a three-legged stool: national defense, economic conservatism, and social conservatism. Romney tried for this, but could not pull it off. Because of his past (actual/perceived), he was not accepted by many as socially conservative. Huckabee has tons of credibility on the social conservatism. I don’t think he cares about national defense. I think he is negative on economic conservatism. He could provide Romney’s missing leg, but won’t. I don’t think Romney can make up for Huckabee’s shortcomings if Romney were in the number 2 position.

Still, it is not a bad idea. The two camps would be smart if they were to meet and discuss the possibilities.

I would like to see Romney and Huckabee both drop out and pledge their delegates to Fred Thompson, J.C. Watts, or Dick Cheney.

Beware of the demonrats’ troll NOW who will want to split more and more the sensible americans(ie NOT LIBERALS),the different kind of conservatives.
One must just watch reasonably to the situation of USA and of the world keeping in mind the final goal and trying to develop a strategy.

A demon’s presidency would be worst than any actual republicans an all the main issues

Look, people. We are at war! I am not a McCain supporter, either. But my candidates left the race. There is a war to fight. And either of the two alternatives in the other party is so horrible to contemplate that McCain is the only choice left. Those who advocate not voting or voting for the other party — including Ann, Rush, et. al. — need to stop foaming at the mouth and ask themselves this simple question: can we afford to give Osama and Co. four free years in this war of civilizations?

I will not vote for either McCain, nor Huckabee to be POTUS, irregardless (which so should be a word!) of their choice for Veep.

I am with you. I will not vote Republican either. As for what they may or may not do, I don’t care anymore. The Republican establishment is so out of touch I will probably register Conservative now.

I will not vote for McCain or Huckabee. I possibly would have held my nose and voted for Romney. As far as I'm concerned I'm out of this and looking ahead to the mid terms to try and stop the socialists there.

We are sooooo screwed. No matter which way you look at it, we will have a liberal elected POTUS in November. My beloved America is about to get mugged and raped. Chaos and upheaval are now inevitable as America takes a hard left turn into socialism and tyranny.

Freeper Uncle Miltie posted this. Now ask me again if I can vote for McCain...no, I can’t.

Senator McCain’s Liberal Record
1. Amnesty = McCain / Kennedy (D)
2. Censorship = McCain / Feingold (D)
3. Gas Tax Increase = McCain / Lieberman (D)
4. McCain’s Proposed Democrat Ticket = Kerry / McCain (D)
5. Turncoats Who Asked to Switch Parties: McCain / Jeffords (D)
6. McCain’s American Conservative Union Rank= 47th / 100 = RINO
7. New York Times (D) Endorsed: McCain
8. Opposed Bush Tax Cuts = McCain + All Ds
9. McCain wants to keep the Death Tax
10. McCain wants to raise Social Security Taxes
11. McCain / ACLU (D) is Pro-Terrorist Rights
12. McCain/Kennedy(D)/Edwards(D) Tobacco = Trial Lawyers Dream Act

Why vote Democrat when you can have

A REAL LIBERAL: JOHN McCAIN!

Top Ten Reasons to Vote For McCain

1. Amnistía Si! Vota Para McCain!
2. Shut Up and Vote McCain / Feingold!
3. $4.00 Gasoline, here we come!
4. Clinton / McCain: The NY Times’ Ticket!
5. RINOs 4 McCain!
6. More Payroll & Death Taxes!
7. Gitmo Detainees Agree: Vote McCain!
8. Kill Conservatism: Vote Liberal, Vote McCain!
9. He Can’t Possibly Stab You in the Back Next!
10. He’ll find out who really stole the strawberries! – Vote Captain Queeg McCain!

Add to this list the Boston Globe’s endorsement, liberal republican’s endorsements and the media’s love affair with this man. I still don’t believe that McCain can beat the democrats without the conservative vote, and he doesn’t have it.

Here is my question, could Huckabee or Romney drop out, and endorse the other candidate, and request their delegates to join them in that support?

Is it possible? Of course.

The problem is that McCain is the second choice of most Huckabee voters, and their third choice is probably Obama.

They appear to both dislike the other personally and professionally. In fact, all the candidates seem to dislike Mitt this time around. Heck, even Huckabee and Obama hugged.

Its really on McCain, this morning that has started to say anything positive about Romney.

Could a VP promise from either of these men, with egos set aside, save the conservative vote?

I think you're more likely to see Huckabee as veep on a McCain ticket than a Romney one.
