Real conservatives will recognize that McCain is an absolute disaster, and that the Republican party treats conservatives like the Democrat party treats blacks. We always wonder why blacks stick with a party that treats them so badly; guess conservatives who will stick with the Republican party come what may ought to look in the mirror.

It doesn't matter which of you is. The fact is, the masters of FreeRepublic bashed George Bush in 1999-2000 like they are bashing McCain now. (Well, maybe not so acridly). But when push came to shove, Bush was the man and has been for the last 8 years. You daren't say much bad about Bush lest you be banned, eh? So it will be if McCain carries the GOP mantle.

Neither quite frankly. Your choosing the lesser of 2 RINOs so conservatism has nothing to do with your statement! I'll take Romney since he has atleast ran a state, but its like voting for another Bush, and that also has nothing to do with conservatism!

I concur wholeheartedly with your comments tomnbeverly. McCain is not my first choice, neither is Romney for that matter, but either one of them would stand head and sholders above Clinton or Obama.

McCain will pick a strong conservative for the bottom of his ticket, and perhaps that may relieve some of the angst amongst republicans that find McCain too liberal.

Either way, I will not repeat the same mistake I made in 92 by voting third party, for I am responsible for Slick Willy as a result of that protest vote. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

And if Hillary was registered as a Republican, you'd vote for her. At some point you need to look beyond party labels, my friend.

Which of us is the real Conservative?

Hint: it ain't you.

I’m with you. I’ll vote for the Republican candidate, no matter who, and take my chances. Heck, I voted for President Bush twice and the positive things I got were:

*Two decent SCOTUS appointments (which means A LOT!)

*Tax cuts; at least for a little while, but they put $1K back into my pocket for 6 years running now. That’s $6K of MINE that wasn’t squandered aimlessly.

And there’s a whole host of negatives, too, but I’ll stay positive. :)

A Republican in the White House, no matter WHO, will slow down the insidious creep of Socialism that’s dividing this country even further into two camps...exactly where the ‘Rats want us to be!

I can’t think of a worst case scenario for America than to have The Beast at the helm. Or Obama-Lama-Ding-Dong.

Yeesh. Use your heads and not your “feeeeeeeelings,” Freepers. You’re NEVER going to get all you want in a Republican candidate until the next Reagan Revolution comes along...and frankly, I don’t see anyone looming on the horizon at this point in time, to lead the charge/change.

However...maybe 4 or 8 years of The Bride of Satan will smack some reality back into some of the heads around here. Be VERY careful what you wish for, because if you think things are bad right now (and they’re NOT, no matter WHAT the Media is spoon-feeding you each day) they’re going to get downright UGLY in the future unless we band together.

“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” - Benjamin Franklin

The “real” conservative must be you because it sure in hell is not Mitt OR McCain (or Huckaby). Of the three, though, Mitt is the best man.

________________________________________________________

I’m sure its benn explained before me but to repeat it one more time, real Conservatives don’t vote for idiots like McKerry. Conservatives don’t consider running for VP with Kerry. Real Conservatives don’t vote against tax cuts, support stem cell research, don’t support illegal aliens, ect ect ect. So who is the real Conservative?

"Which of us is the real Conservative?"

It surely isn't you. Just because you can pronounce Ronald Reagan doesn't mean a damn thing. If you need to invoke your take on what RR would think of today's politics, you don't have much of an argument.

Listen, if it is your desire to support the republican party rather than conservative values, that is your right. But to log into a conservative, not republican, forum and start telling conservatives that they are not real because they don't see things your way, is just as insane as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Enjoy your stay on the republican plantation, blindly supporting anybody with an "R" following their name on the ballot.

You tomnbeverly are simply a Republican....There's a HUGE difference. Neither McCain nor Romney are conservatives...they're RINOs.

I believe you are a Republican. However, if the last eight years, and the eight years of 41’s administration has taught us nothing, its that being a Republican and being Conservative are two very different things.

Good companies lose their way and go out of business. The Republican Party is one of those companies. If the left screws it up bad enough, they won’t get another 40 years like they did last time.

Nope, people get the government they deserve. The Republicans deserve what they are getting now. It makes me very sad to say that, and Rush has nothing to do with this. Churchill was the voice crying out in the wilderness too. It was a miracle of timing that he got elected, and not unexpected that he lost after the war was over.

Kids want their cake for breakfast, and they want their cartoons. The boomers are kids. It’s just the way it is. Being an adult is passe’ until somebody’s home town goes up in a nuclear fireball. This is what history has taught us, that prosperity is a killer unless you are willing to pay the price, which is eternal vigilance.

Obama and Hillary want out of Iraq, and want everyone to have ‘free’ healthcare. They are even willing to garnish your wages to do it. McCain’s right there with them, and Romney implemented something similar in Mass.

What do you want conservatives to do? Caving is the easy thing, and I won’t do it. They’ll get McCain, which will get them tweedledee or tweedledum.

This is sick, but weirder things have happened. More likely than a brokered convention, McCain will get the nod, and he will likely get a bonafide conservative to run as his VP to ‘unite the party’.

McCain wins, barring any guaranteed fraudulence with the vote. McCain either dies early, or is assassinated, leaving us with a conservative.

It may sound sick, but fifteen minutes after McCain wins (if he wins) the nomination, the democrats are going to call for him to release his medical records. Of all the ‘pieces of dirt’ the D’s have on him, they will go to the ‘old and infirm’ card first.

~”LOL see you are exaclty the problem.... Its either Mitt or nothing.”~

From my perspective, not true. There are only two (R) candidates I will not support. They are Huckabee and McCain. (Paul goes without saying.) I’d have voted for Romney, Thompson, Tancredo, Hunter, or (holding my nose) Giuliani.

Unfortunately, we are fresh out of good men. I will not vote for a bad one.
