Insanity on FR (Vanity)
2/2/08 | tomnbeverly

Posted on 02/03/2008 4:58:36 AM PST by tomnbeverly

The Insanity that has taken over on this forum, when it comes to the potential GOP nominees, is bordering on Psychotic.

1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men.

2. Either one being the GOP nominee is a far cry better then the Surrender Monkeys on the other side.

I only ask that we do not stray into that Liberal arena of Personal destruction. I have listened to Sean and Rush and I blame them for engaging this tactic in our party.

We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other. For that reason alone Ronald Reagan would be turning over in his grave.

Which of us is the real Conservative?

Answer: COBOL2Java

You tomnbeverly are simply a Republican....There's a HUGE difference. Neither McCain nor Romney are conservatives...they're RINOs.

The Freeper creed....
“If you don’t believe as I believe, every thought, every word, every utterance, you are unworthy of my vote. If you can’t do it precisely as I dictate, you are unworthy of my vote.

The fact I will elect a Marxist by disapproval of the minutest perceived imperfection is not relevant. Death and dishonor are preferable to casting a vote for someone who lacks the perfection of credentials I demand.

The country can go to hell, but I will remain true to my biases and even some personal bigotry while not voting or while actively killing the candidate I find repugnant. My thoughts will remain pure even as the country is destroyed and I can smugly say “not my fault, I laid out a pure and perfect course”

How about this:

I believe a President or Leader in this country should exhibit the following:

1. Be Strong on National Defense and willing to submit a bill to provide for UMT (Universal Military Training)

2. Support Strong Family Values and Faith (Includes marriage, Pro-life, anti-drug, Recognize that our laws are derived from the laws of God) and willing to enforce quarantine against those willingly carrying diseases that threaten all of the foregoing.

3. Support Fiscal Responsibility by government (Keep deficits small) AND, very importantly, collect a modest stipend from all of our treaty allies to help pay for our help in their national defense.

4. keep taxes low ~ and reform federal tax laws regarding foundations to encourage the very wealthy to pass their bucks on to their closest relatives rather than Godless, faceless, leftwing apparatchiks who make a practice of taking over and misusing post mortem foundations.

5. keep Government small and non-intrusive, and privatize questions of honor. The Code Duelo should be revived. No sense wasting the judiciary's time on some of these disputes. The faster the hotheads bump each other off the better it is for the rest of us.

6. Promote Personal Respnsiblity - no federak Government hand outs or Nanny states.

I will suggest again that you google around.

When I search for +"Pentagon opposition" "to China" +technology +transfer this is what I find

The only link concerning wrongdoing is the top one and that involves Loral and the Clintons.

McCain is looking for one more crowning achievement: Forcing you to vote for him in November because he is supposedly worse than the Democrat candidate.

But he is the worse choice. McCain as Benedict Arnold, as a faux Conservative can and will harm the Republic far more than Hillary or Obama.

A Democrat president will be well met by determined Republican congressional opposition. The media-fueled McCain, as a "one of us" Republican President, will get the freedom robbing legislation passed that Hillary or Obama could only dream of enacting.

McCain has already done these things as a Senator. Why should he stop now as the most powerful man in the world?

And stop insulting us. We think for ourselves, not what Limbaugh, et al. say.

Alive and kickin’

I am glad to see you are still around...seems to me so many old time Freepers have fallen off...

It should be noted I won’t pull an Ann and vote for a Dem...never ever...I suspect I will be voting with one hand and holding my nose with the other...

I do say I sit back with much glee wondering who Gore will endorse.

And I would add this, to all the appropriate points you make:

It's one thing to support someone whose policies don't align with yours perfectly (or even substantially) but who comes to you saying, "I want your help. I want to try to work with you, to see your side of things."

Romney has done that. Has McCain? Absolutely not. He skipped C-PAC, in a completely gutless move, because he knew he would be booed. He has consistently and quite specifically given the finger to conservatives. So it's one thing to vote for someone who WANTS your vote. He doesn't. And I'm all too happy to satisfy him.

Hardly, but I thought you might like to see what your suggestions can be interpeted as.

General principles are one thing; specific proposals are something else.

A comparable situation: Is the long term CA conservative movement stronger or weaker with The Guvernator in charge?

Well, you pose some thoughtful considerations here and do not know the final answers for sure; but as to the above; do not think we can compare the Conservative working for/against the 'Guvernator' versus the same working against a Leftist idealogue; one who determinedly feeds from the Marxist trough. And by that committment; walks in 'lock-step' with those 'round the world' who share the view from the totalitarian abyss.

McCain, while sharing Liberal inclinations; is - I don't think - any more committed to the Left; than he is the Right. He is not an Idealogue; he does not stand in the long line of 'leftist/marxist hand-holders' (as does Hillary and the 'so-inclined' Obama).

And so, do think McCain is the more sane challenge - and for the long haul - if even counting only four years.

Again, think Repubs need to move beyond 'issues' and seriously consider the moral structures that have nourished these candidates. It is bad enough that the Clinton's are America's number ONE, political crimimal enterprise; worse, and far more threatening, is the power that animates them. Obama's well of inspiration holds frightening possibilities as well.

Competing in the arena of ideas, McCain appears almost 'bush-league' by comparison.

No truer words than those.

I find it hilarious that these Party Hacks are coming in here to sell us their wares...and you have to be quite a huckster to try to sell the used jalopy of McCainiac.
