Insanity on FR (Vanity)
2/2/08 | tomnbeverly

Posted on 02/03/2008 4:58:36 AM PST by tomnbeverly

The Insanity that has taken over on this forum, when it comes to the potential GOP nominees, is bordering on Psychotic.

1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men.

2. Either one being the GOP nominee is a far cry better then the Surrender Monkeys on the other side.

I only ask that we do not stray into that Liberal arena of Personal destruction. I have listened to Sean and Rush and I blame them for engaging this tactic in our party.

We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other. For that reason alone Ronald Reagan would be turning over in his grave.

You are right, but it is hopeless. Men are free to be hysterics and hold insane grudges. It will marginalize conservatives for a decade, but it is going to happen. There is no more sense in trying to talk people out of it than in expecting one more sensible leading editorial will make all dems into republicans. It is an identity thing. People have bought into the leftist totalitarian politics lie, are partisans first, and seek religious redemption within politics. It is crazy, but it is the characteristic crazy of our time. Conservatives who are only conservatives because they bought that line, not from basic temperment and a basic contempt for politics as such, are not immune to it.

There was nothing wrong with Bob Dole. He was an honorable man and way better than Clinton. He lost, the people didn't choose the better man. That may have been predictable and therefore he may have been a forseeably weak candidate. But he was a decent man and does not deserve this ridiculous slander.

You daren't say much bad about Bush lest you be banned, eh? So it will be if McCain carries the GOP mantle.

Are you claiming President Bush is never criticized on FR?

Have you not read the threads where FReepers express frustration over the border agents who are in prison?

How about the threads that discuss his "Global Warming" comments?

How about out of utter spite and contempt for you and those who speak as you do about such things? That'd be more than enough reason.

Every House scandal?

Hardly.

The general public didn't figure out what the scandal part was then, and they sure won't now.

Newt can build a major political party just on the strength of the divorced people in the country ~ and that's the only rap the Dems have ever shown any inclination to lay on him and pursue for any length of time.

"Which of us is the real Conservative?"

It surely isn't you. Just because you can pronounce Ronald Reagan doesn't mean a damn thing. If you need to invoke your take on what RR would think of today's politics, you don't have much of an argument.

Listen, if it is your desire to support the republican party rather than conservative values, that is your right. But to log into a conservative, not republican, forum and start telling conservatives that they are not real because they don't see things your way, is just as insane as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Enjoy your stay on the republican plantation, blindly supporting anybody with an "R" following their name on the ballot.

The reference you gave concerns events that happened just before Newt led the Republican party to a total takeover of the House of Representatives and the US Senate.

The public probably appreciated his candor and ability to explain rationally what he'd done ~ like OVERDRAWN HIS CHECKING ACCOUNT!

Hey, that was probably worth 5 million additional votes on the Republican side in the Fall elections that year!

Add the "overdrawn account" folks to the "divorced folks" and there you have it ~ a landslide.

“We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other. For that reason alone Ronald Reagan would be turning over in his grave.”

Mercy, are you trying to tell us Reagan and his people didn’t use others BAD records against them?

And NO, McCain is NOT a decent human being. He’s destroying any good Reagan or any conservative has done.

Isn’t it a bit early to be blaming conservatives for the loss of the election?

This usually is invoked in the last month.

The logic goes thusly:

By not nominating anyone with any conservative credentials, the moderates/liberals presently running the GOP can blame conservatives for not voting for the GOP candidate in order to divert attention from their failure to advance a platform that is conservative, or that a majority of people will vote for.

It’s really a brilliant strategy that keeps the limp-wristed types in power election after election....all the way until the GOP becomes irrelevant.

Well, we’ll just have to respectfully agree to disagree. You believe the Democratic landslide will occur with McCain (despite the fact that current polling data shows McCain defeating Hillary and Mitt losing to her), and I KNOW it will happen with Mitt heading the ticket!

“There was nothing wrong with Bob Dole. He was an honorable man and way better than Clinton. He lost, the people didn’t choose the better man.”

You forget things about Dole. Like Thanksgiving weekend when the senate had all gone home except 4 of them...2 dems, 2 republicans (Dole, Hatfield). They called a quorum and pushed through the Brady bill when they couldn’t get it passed with a full senate.

Dole was a traitor and so is McCain.

Look on the bright side! Romney won Maine and it was a landslide! Thought Maine was supposed to be so very liberal?

Another uplifting thought. In California, the registered Independents can not vote in the Republican primary. They can vote for Hillary or Obama. So now we will get to see whom the California Republicans choose. Here’s hoping it is Romney over McCain!

This race and our chance to stop McCain is not over! Super Tuesday conservative voters will stop McCAin by voting for Romney. I believe they now understand that a McCain nomination insures Hillary will win the White House. They will not select Amnesty McCain the MSM chosen candidate!

To JustADumbBlonde...”I didn’t say libertarian I said Conservative... If you think Mitt Romney is more Conservative than John McCain then you are a Fool...”

It is amazing how the establishment GOP resort to liberal Dem attacks when voters don’t agree with the intelligencia of our failed GOP leaders. “We know what is best for you minions, come here to this cliff.”

So, McCain is now a conservative ?lol

We can’t stay home. There’s a lot more at stake than just the Presidency. I plan to go and either vote third party or write in at the top, and vote for all the Republicans on the down ballot races. We’re going to need all the Pubbies we can get to counter either Hillobama or McCain.
