Insanity on FR (Vanity)
2/2/08 | tomnbeverly

The Insanity that has taken over on this forum, when it comes to the potential GOP nominees, is bordering on Psychotic.

1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men.

2. Either one being the GOP nominee is a far cry better then the Surrender Monkeys on the other side.

I only ask that we do not stray into that Liberal arena of Personal destruction. I have listened to Sean and Rush and I blame them for engaging this tactic in our party.

We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other. For that reason alone Ronald Reagan would be turning over in his grave.

There is nothing insaine about addressing concerns with McCain, while there is still time to vote against him!
McCain has a long list of NEGATIVES:
Poking Bush & Conservatives in the eye for his own benefit.
Calling those opposing his so called ‘immigration reform’ plan “racist”.
Ignorant Energy policy and belief in Global Warming,
Continually conceding to liberal criticism of conservative policies by accepting bumper sticker logic.
No depth of understanding on critical issues.
‘Gang of 14’ giving up on prohibiting filibuster of Judicial nominees.
He DOES NOT believe in Judicial restraint.
Handcuffing the military in the execution of their duties.
Naïve foreign policy objectives.
Lack of support for Israel.
Support for Embryonic Stem Cell research, when the scientific evidence is clear that no positive medical benefit is possible.

I think you fail to read those thoughts of individuals here who actually THINK about their responses, through their experiences and education, make educated opinions and decisions. I, like many here, do not think John McCain is SANE. He suffers from delayed stress syndrome as a results of his POW time. That is not to damn the man, because I have friends who suffer from DSS. But, McCain is not a conservative, he does not stand for anything that I and many here stand for. As for Miff, he approves homosexual marriage. THAT alone did it for me on him. His taxing policy did not help him either. Plus, many other things he did.

So, instead of trying to tell us how stupid we are not to like YOUR two choices, I think you should just off your opinions like everyone else does here, and not TELL us what to do, and suggest we are stupid for our comments. I for one do not claim to be a rocket scientist, but I am not stupid either.

Finally... You speak profoundly and I totally agree...

I thought Newt Gingrich would be the best VP choice and would server to unite an otherwise disgruntled Conservative party...

1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men.

You are half right. McCain is a bitter, vindictive backstabbing traitor, who will amnesty 20 million criminal invaders as soon as (God forbid) he is elected. Read Article 4 Section 4 of the COnstitution: that makes him a traitor, not a "good and decent man."

Unless you would count Benedict Arnold as a "good and decent man," who just happened to change sides during the revolutionary war.

(PS: Arnold was also a secret traitor and liar, who did his treason covertly, plotting with the British to open the Hudson River to a strategic British naval sneak attack while he was the commander of the fort at West Point.)

Examining candidates’ records is what the primaries are for. If we don’t thoroughly vet our candidates now and get all the ugliness out there so people can make an informed decision before we nominate someone, we can be assured the press will do it for us at the worst possible time.

It gets heated at times, but nobody is forced to be here, and this is not a time for kissy face huggy bear. It’s a time for brutal honesty, even if people don’t like hearing it about their candidate.

And I strongly disagree that any of our candidates is better than Hillobama. McCain is worse, because he could actually get things done, as opposed to the two empty suits who would be fought tooth and nail by the Republicans. And despite the over the top, fearmongering rhetoric from some on this board, Hillobama is not the end of life as we know it. Nothing gets done in Washington without 60 votes in the Senate.

Do what you wish, but I won’t put a loose cannon aimed at the Constitution in the White House, and that position is nonnegotiable.

If the Republicans lose this election..

... Hillary or Obama will select at least two Supreme Court justices.

You peaked too soon. That phase here at FR won't kick in until around September when McCain's campaign is swirling hard down the toilet from constant media attacks brought on by his liberal "buddies" and of his own making. From then thru November, we'll see the usual RINO suspects line up and give their inflammatory Opus messages about how FR conservatives wouldn't listen and save the party from disaster...yada, yada, yada...

YAWN....

Nominating McCain would be Dole Dejavu all over again.

I didn’t like the movie the first time, I doubt I would enjoy a remake.

Good and decent politicans don't exist anymore. As much as I like Thompson and I was a Fred Head, I'm sure that even he has his skeletons.

That point has merit because Thompson should have pulled much more support then he got.... Bad promotion?

No you have to say McCain is mentally unbalanced as if you are qualified to make that assessment...

The evidence is there, should you have the courage to look and see. People who worked for him testify to his tenuous grasp on even a modicum of emotional stability. The way he treats congressmen who DARE to conflict with his thought processes; ditto for reporters who try to ask him tough questions. His performance at the last debate, where he steadfastly refused to accept the testimony of countless individuals who said that Romney did NOT call for a time table - that clinched it for me. The man owns his own personal reality, which is at odds with the real world.

I don't want someone that mentally imbalanced anywhere near the nuclear football.

If McCain wins ... Ditto...
Which of us is the real Conservative?

Neither quite frankly. Your choosing the lesser of 2 RINOs so conservatism has nothing to do with your statement! I'll take Romney since he has atleast ran a state, but its like voting for another Bush, and that also has nothing to do with conservatism!

If the conservatives loose control of the Republican party

That happened in 1988.

The people that you speak of as "conservatives" are no more than 15% of the Republican primary electorate (if that), and they aren't in control of anything.

Republican elected officials have been shining them on with pretty talk for 20 years, but it appears that that phase of our politics is coming to an end.

What's next is hard to see. What's NOT next is electing a Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, or Tom Tancredo President.

Both are RINOs...but McCain is stupid and mentally unbalanced. Therein lies the distinction that makes his candidacy fatally flawed.

I'll post my "dittoes" to that... and that is the truly distinguishing characteristic of Senator McNasty.
