Tim Russert isn't practicing his Christmas tree-ornament hanging technique. The Meet the Press host is demonstrating how John McCain is dangling the VP slot to Mike Huckabee. And Huck seems as transfixed as a hound before a bone, judging by the way he's staying in the race against all odds and spending his time taking shots at Mitt Romney.

Russert was a guest during the 7 AM half-hour of Morning Joe.

Huckabee, Thompson, Graham et al, actually believe McCains “promises”?

These two amnesty candidates will not get my vote. Another poster labeled them the Manchurian Candidate and the Dogpatch candidate.

Confirms my theory on why Huckabee won’t quit. He’s McCain’s butt boy.

Of course McCain promised Huckabee the VP slot for staying in the race to take votes from Romney!

I heard McCain’s voice say on Laura’s show that: “Yes, John Kerry and I are very good friends, so of course if he asked me to be his VP I would entertain it.”

And Senator Rick Santorum just endorsed Mitt Romney! He said don’t listen to the media, and that any conservative must realize that Mitt Romney is the best candidate to move conservatism forward.:)

HONESTLY, Does any conservative need anything else to convince them that a vote for ANYONE but Mitt Romney gives us John McCain as nominee and then in November, Hillary in the White House? PLEASE, vote Romney on Tuesday!

This Florida FredHead who voted for Romney is hoping Fred comes out and endorses Mitt today!!!!!

McCain will probably trick him. He’s using Huckabee to draw votes away from Romney, is McCain really that level a scoundrel? Time will tell. The more time goes on the less I like McCain, he was very rude and crass toward Romney in the debates.

Yikes! I already don’t think I could vote for McCain. This would clinch it.

“...is McCain really that level a scoundrel?”

Judging by his past tactics, yes.

McCain - Huckabee. That is like the worst ticket imaginable for conservatives.

I was just discussing this on another blog. I think there is a deal. Huckabee is playing spoiler.

A few weeks ago, McCain was asked what kind of person would he want as his running mate ... and he said the first criterion would be national security credentials.

Huckabee has some strong points, but that’s not one of them. I don’t think McCain/Huckabee is in the cards.

It wouldn’t shock me if McCain picked Huckabee, who I think would be a really bad choice, but I think it’s more likely he’ll pick a governor with a firmer conservative reputation that’ll solder up the base, or if not that, somebody who’s popular and comes from a swing state. Huckabee doesn’t have much to offer relative to others.

McCain comes across as unstable. There’s no telling who he would pick as a running mate. Hell, he’ll probably ask John Al-Querry.
