BRATTLEBORO (ruthlandherald.com) Brattleboro residents will vote at town meeting on whether President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should be indicted and arrested for war crimes, perjury or obstruction of justice if they ever step foot in Vermont.
The Brattleboro Select Board voted 3-2 Friday to put the controversial item on the Town Meeting Day warning.
According to Town Clerk Annette Cappy, organizers of the Bush-Cheney issue gathered enough signatures, and it was up to the Select Board whether Brattleboro voters would consider the issue in March.
Cappy said residents will get to vote on the matter by paper balloting March 4.
Kurt Daims, 54, of Brattleboro, the organizer of the petition drive, said Friday the debate to get the issue on the ballot was a good one. Opposition to the vote focused on whether the town had any power to endorse the matter.

“What is wrong in Vermont, anyway???”
Too any burnt out, aging Hippies. Just think that Vermont was the only state in the Union that did not vote for FDR.
Exactly... The defense of the Liberals... If you disagree with them or question them you are labled as hateful or intolerant when it is in fact they who are the intolerant ones...
It is way past time that some GOP’ers get up and start bringing out this Liberal Flaw to the American People... Crazy stuff like the Brattleboro nonsense is exactly what America needs to see how the lunatics on the left intend to take over this country and force their views on the American People...
Obama is a perfect example... He talks about all the division in D.C. and sings the siren song to our youth that he is not divisive when you don’t believe in what he says is truth you are then called part of the problem...
Nuke the treasonous b*stards for threatening one of the greatest presidents the United States have ever had.
In the 19th century Maine voted a little earlier than the other states and often voted for the winner, so there was a saying, "As Maine goes, so goes the nation." After the 1936 there was a revised version, "As Maine goes, so goes Vermont." It may have been Jim Farley who said that.
The west coast hippies left San Fran to go to Washington and Oregon, while the east coast contingent went to Vermont. I think all three states are at the bottom of the list in terms of sales of soap and razor blades, to say nothing of deoderant. ;-)
I always heard the the story with Maine is that it was run by a Yankee Republican machine that despised the French Canadians and Irish who dominated the Dem minority. Since the latter groups had high birthrates, they eventually took over the state after WWII.

They must be spiking their maple syrup with something very potent.
hmm... I guess you live the in the far rights version of Brattleboro...
Is anyone else paying attention that this article appeared in an Iranian newsrag?
My ancestor Timothy Church was a Lt. Col in the Revolutionary War. He was born and raised in Brattleboro and he in turn raised most of his kids there. After the war he was run out of Vermont by Ethan Allen and his family in a massive land grab. His son Reuben Church was one of Ethan Allen’s Green Mountian Boys, and after the war he was run out too. Wound up in Canada.
It seems the Allens repopulated the State with inbred chowderheads.
That was my comment... Our enemies are using Brattleboro as Propaganda to enforce the Hate Bush crowds... That obviously is against the law or at least it feels like it is...
If there are any sane people left in that town, I imagine that they are keeping their heads down...
I’ve heard that Vermont has really changed in recent years, that lotsa transplanted liberal / New Yorker types have taken over.
They even have that Socialist Bernie Sanders from the Bronx. Isn’t that special?
Vermont has been gone for some time now. Too many hippies and ski bums who stayed, coupled with rich liberal New Yorkers and Bostonians who bought vacation homes and did the same.
Can we trade Vt as well as NY and the rest of New England to Canada for Alberta and a province to be named later?
Bush should go there and give a speech.
It is not ALL of Vermont. Some parts are more conservative, but they don't make the news.
