During his 1994 Senate campaign against Ted Kennedy and in his 2002 gubernatorial campaign, Romney campaigned as a pro-choice candidate. In a televised debate against Kennedy in October of 1994, Romney said he felt “abortion should be safe and legal in this country,” and he believed this because his mother took that position in her 1970 U.S. Senate campaign

Romney on Judicial Appointments
For all of Romney’s rhetoric about activist judges, his own judicial appointments also leave much to be desired. The Boston Globe reported in July of 2005 that Romney had “passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced, instead tapping registered Democrats or independents — including two gay lawyers who have supported expanded same-sex rights.”

I don’t doubt any of this. And as a pro-lifer, Romney’s record is indeed very troubling. However, it’s come down to a two-man race between Romney and McPain, and the latter is simply unacceptable. I’ll be casting my CA primary ballot for Romney next week.
Imagine that.
Brace yourself, someone will hop on by to post fifty things Romney did right over the last eight years so people can vote for him with a clean concience, and start to idolize him just like they do someone else we know.
Romney will never see a vote from me, and that goes for the other four characters this election cycle.
Hopefully in 2012, we’ll have someone worth voting for on the right side of the isle.
You do have good Fire Insurance, I hope ???
When the MittNittWitts see this, you’ll get flamed...
RINO Romney pays them good to slander and verbally abuse anyone who tells the truth about him ...
How much are they paying you!:)
Wow that almost sounds like the bailout of Chrysler by that liberal ex-governor from California, Ronald Reagan.
A lot of material, but just a quick response re hospitals providing “plan B” pills for those who have been raped: I favor a ban on all abortion, but there are many who are willing to make an exception for rape or incest. I regard them as allies and pro-life. I will gladly take 99.8% of a loaf now, and then incrementally work on the remainder, since the alternative is unrestricted abortion on demand.
Yeah, Romney is an untrustworthy weasel in a field of untrustworthy weasels.
What are you gonna do?
Man, I just feel ill. I said I’d vote for Romney, but now I don’t think I will. I don’t know what the hell to do.
I’ll definetly be voting for Romney.
The amount of Democrats spamming FR with anti-Romney messages is the proof that everyone should vote for him.
I would point out to everyone BE SURE TO LOOK AT THE PROFILES OF THE INDIVIDUALS POSTING ANTI-ROMNEY MATERIAL. If you look at their “In Forum” posts, you’ll notice that it’s spamming the same things over and over.
No REPUBLICAN would be so deadset against Romney. One might not be voting for him (though most will be) but they certainly would not be dedicating so much effort to fighting him if they were legitimate posters.
Don’t be duped.
I am going to e-mail this to every Catholic I know in Massachusetts, and across the country. This is the absolute best piece I have yet read on Mitt Romney true record.
Now let’s wait for the Romney Robot Brigade to scream how this two-faced piece of RINO trash is our only hope. One needs to be intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt to argue in favor of this clown.
Call me crazy, and flame me if you want, but I see only three choices on election day: stay home; write-in another individual; or cast my lot with Ron Paul, despite some of his weaknesses... I am strongly leaning to the third option.
I had an interesting thought. Posit that the following four things are true:
1.) McCains comeback is largely due to the improvements in Iraq.
2.) McCain will win the nomination.
3.) McCain will lose against the (D) nominee.
4.) A different (R) nominee would have won the general election.
Given those four factors, it is not outside the realm of possibility that we will lose the White House -because- Iraq is going well. Hows that for irony?
However, 2008 is a year full of very evil possibilities. Christian conservatives failed to support a conservative candidate, leaving us to make the best of bad choices. Giuliani, McCain, and Huckabee all have severe and disqualifying histories. Not to mention the intense evil of the Clinton/Obama’s.

Not a record to be proud of.
Good article. Thanks for posting it.
