My mommy, the dancer
Posted on 01/28/2008 2:46:08 PM PST by Gopher Broke
One day a fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their mothers did for a living.
All the typical answers came up - teacher, nurse, businesswoman, saleswoman, doctor, lawyer, and so forth.
However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his mother, he replied,
"Well my mother's an exotic dancer in a cabaret and takes off all her clothes in front of men and they put money in her underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, she will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money."
The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and then took little Justin aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your mother?"
"No," the boy said, "She works for the Democratic National Committee and is helping to get Hillary Clinton to be our next President, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

Your tagline, "if somebody agrees with me 70% of the time, rather than 100%, that doesnt make him my enemy." -RR, is at odds with the posts I've been reading on FreeRepublic vis-a-vis the Republican presidential candidates.

I know. That's why Ronald Reagan was able to win the biggest landslide in American history. He wasn't a "my way or the highway" absolutist, but a very practical statesman.

The way people are declaring their intention to stay home because their guy might not be the candidate is amazing. The only absolutely objectionable (viable)candidate in my eyes is McCain. I wanted Thompson, but I’d vote for Mitt, Huckleberry, or Rudy (in that order).

He wasn't a "my way or the highway" absolutist, but a very practical statesman. He was also talking about people who, for the most part, agreed with you and not people who, for the most part, stood in fundamental disagreement with your beliefs. There is a significant difference between the two.
I just wish I could find a Republican candidate who I thought I could be 70% in agreement with. Heck, I'd settle for 60% at this point.

I believe Reagan also said something along the lines of....
“Id rather get 80% of what I want than go over the cliff with my flag flying”
I think we know the ideological persuasion of many FReepers on that one. OVER THE CLIFF. FLAG PROUDLY FLYING!
I was married into an entire family like that. They would rather stand in front of an oncoming semi insisting they have the right of way than to jump out of the way. When a semi is coming at me I could care LESS about right of way; I know I have the right to get out of the way.

It depends what that 30% of the time includes. If that 30% of the time includes slavery, it would make him my enemy. Also on list of making one my enemy would include support of abortion.

That’s a big one for me, too, but the most important thing in that area is the judicial appointments.
