Said Bill Clinton today in Columbia, SC: "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in '84 and '88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here."

This was in response to a question about Obama saying it "took two people to beat him." Jackson had not been mentioned.

Boy, I can't understand why anyone would think the Clintons are running a race-baiting campaign to paint Obama as "the black candidate."

The Clintons do everything for a reason. Surely they must know that attacking Obama is going to infuriate a lot of Dim voters. That’s why I think Obama is in on this whole thing. They’ll argue and bicker and then set their differences aside for the greater good of all mankind (can’t you just see that headline on the cover of Newsweek)?

Obama probably figures that he can be VP for 4 or 8 years and then run for president again after that. I may be wrong, but this “fighting” just seems a little too over the top for me.
