I’m not at all convinced that the Council of Mayors is FOR border control in the sense of STOPING the flood of illegals.

The Phoenix Mayor (Phil Gordon) was on the Phoenix local ABC affiliate tonight, and he is very upset. He said (not quoting here), he is going to Washington to ‘demand’ that Congress do something immediately. He said we can’t wait another day.

Well, hopefully someone is waking up to this issue and will slap Jorge Bush about the head and face and get him to see the real dangers of the illegal problem. For way too long this issue has been ignored and allowed, for whatever reasons.

Many reasons are given by both parties. One side says it is humane to let them in. Another party says our economy will fall if we do not have those workers. However, what it is costing us, as a nation, in all areas is not worth allowing this continued flood of illegals into this country. While they do do the dirt work, they are costing us trillions in other areas such as health care, up keep, and crime. Especially crime.

Bush needs to be kicked and kicked some more to wake this fool up. Something has to be done by the stupid Congress. Something has to be done before this issue, which is past the ticking time bomb state. Otherwise, the problem will become like another war. The issue will explode. And the consequences are going to be terrible.

Good for this mayor! Sounds like he is leading the pack. Why hasn't his congressman McCain done anything - surely, he has met with him./sarc

Seems like the wrong person from Arizona is running for prez.

Yes - I agree. We can’t wait another day. But beyound this point the mayor and I disagree.

He wants to let allow the illegal invaders to stay.

“It’s outrageous conduct on the part of these individuals who have proclaimed themselves self-judges of who belongs in our country and who doesn’t belong in our country,” the mayor said.

Well, mayor, the current existing laws should really govern who stays and who leaves.

I believe the current laws should be strictly enforced and I strongly suspect the good mayor believes otherwise.

He wants to give MY country away to a bunch of illegal invaders who really don’t love her.

Screw him.

Do you have a link, Wayne?

I don’t live in Phoenix - but do get the Phoenix local news on tv, here. I don’t know much about the mayor - but do know that Joe Arpaio is fed up with the situation - as are most of the people in this state.

Wow. Thank you for the links. There is always more to every story, isn’t there? I agree with you.

I was in Phoenix last week, and was so tempted to drive by Pruitt’s Furniture store, to see if the ruckus was still going on. (Glad I did not go.)

Congress to Mayors...

You will be happy to know, we are hard at work on a fence for our southern border. It will be completed in 2462.

Well we know this president would rather grant ILLEGALS amnesty than to secure our borders. Not that the next would be any better.

I wish what we call a mayor here in Houston, would do this; but he is one of those who thinks he is in line for the next political office just as he thinks that about his own office.

I can’t stand him.

Speaking of Mayors:

Mayor scandal hurts Detroit
Prosecutor to discuss possible investigation
The Detroit News
DETROIT — Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his family Thursday cut short a visit to their Florida vacation home to return to Detroit, a day after the release of salacious text messages showing he had a sexual relationship with his chief of staff.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is expected this morning to announce how she will address the text messages, which contradict August testimony by the mayor and Chief of Staff Christine Beatty in a Whistleblowers lawsuit filed by two former police officers that resulted in the city paying an $8 million settlement.

We have been batting a thousand with these guys. I have been here 13 years and so far 3 have been in office. Houston is very laid back town and we haven’t had one mayor that didn’t think they were better than the people of Houston and very much acted that part.
