This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.
“Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee”
Jesus Christ Himself could endorse Huckaliar OR Juan and they would STILL not get my vote!
Nah... he’s still a good man. It’s just a bad endorsement.
At least he didn’t back McCain.
I always thought Duncan was smarter than to be taken in by the glorified medicine show salesman.
Huckabee/Hunter is a fairly conservative ticket...hmmm
Considering NONE of the front runners are Conservative, this will be a plus for Huckabee if he announces Hunter for VP
“This can only mean he wants the VP spot.”
Well, if he wanted the VP spot, he should have endorsed someone else as most of us think Huck can’t possibly make it.
You could certainly argue that Huckabee's the most principled, conservative candidate remaining. Romney's a fraud, McCain's faults are well known, Paul is out there somewhere and so is his home planet, and Rudy's an authoritarian libertine.
People just do not follow a loser's advice.
The most an endorsement can achieve is get some air time for the loser and perhaps for the candidate that he endorses.
People have a choice, blame themselves for picking a loser or blame the loser for not being a better candidate.
Guess which one most voters select.
He was my number two choice. Now I don’t feel bad that he dropped out.
If he can’t even pick the right person to endorse, how could he pick Supreme Court Justices????
Listen to all the heads exploding in here! [/s]
"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country."
Judge him not by his words, nor by his actions, for I have decided that he's a great guy after all.
Although I’m surprized, I’m not sure why. I could not support Hunter because I saw him as a populist. His endorsement of Huckabee confirms that.
Ooooh. His 1% following is really going to shake up the election. lol.
On what, may I ask?
Dang, even the conservatives don’t want conservatives running.
There’s just way too many WTF moments happening for the Republicans right now for me not to believe that vast sums of Chinese dollars in Swiss bank accounts aren’t responsible for at least some of it. They want their fellow travelers back in the White House in the worst way.
You have GOT to be kidding me! Hunter endorses Huck?
What’s next? Rush endorses Obama?
Not Scrappleface? WTH?!
This is a stunner..
