Fredheads, It's Time to Support Mitt
The Jawa Report ^ | January 22, 2008 05:18 PM | Dr. Rusty Shackleford

Posted on 01/22/2008 3:22:24 PM PST by Checkers

Dear fellow Fredheads,

It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.

McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.

To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.

But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.

Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.

Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.

I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.

It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

We owe it to our fighting men and women to support the candidate that will support them.

I took off the uniform 23 months ago - after wearing it for 21 years (plus 4 years in college).

The country "owes" our military personnel a Congress and a President who uphold the Constitution.

They won't get it from the Democrats, and they certainly won't get it from the current crop of Republicans left standing.

Please, no more "suck it up!" orders from you.

If people of good conscious choose to let the GOP swim in the mess they have made for themselves, that is their choice.

The country will get the government it deserves. God may be choosing to not bless our nation.

I'll keep my faith in Christ - not a government of liberal Republicans.

Remember no matter which wind the majority blows after or to, Christ will never leave or fore-sake His own. Even Sodom and Gomorrah would not have been destroyed if there has been 10 followers of the Heavenly Father.... we are not there ... yet.

Yup - Christ will never abandon us.

Very comforting in times like these.

I do believe our nation as a whole is dying: morally, financially, and spiritually.

Well, Checkers... this former Fredhead will be working hard for Rudy Guiliani. I can’t help it... I just like Rudy.

Sky Pilot...

Since I don't take orders from you, I will post what I want...(just like you do)

If you don't like what I post, then skip on by them. I don't post that much any more. So, I promise you that you won't be all that busy.

As Ed Koch said today on Malzberg, “Rudy is dead”. He will not be in the race after Feb 5th.
...............................................

I will hold you to that :)

I am worried until he is gone for good.

Yes, I know that very well. That’s one reason I can’t vote for a liar.

but conservative principles endure.

Do they? I suppose in some people they do, but fewer every year espouse them. A closer look ar Willard reveals that he and the democratic candidates have more in common than points they disagree on. McCain is a crooked (Keating 5) arrogant stupid nutjob. Julie Annie is a NY liberal who said back when he was running against her for the senate "Most of my positions are the same as Mrs Clinton's" Thompson, Hunter (both gone now for lack of interest) Paul (probably the most conservative of all of the candidates, but unable to sell his message) are/were not viable candidates. Huckabee (not sure about his stands) is probably going to fade too.

So what's the choice? Third party like Nader did to the Dems is probably the best conservatives can hope for. What a lot of Republicans on this site (who in spite of their own self image are NOT conservatives) decry third party because "it will give the white house to Hillary." So what if it does? Why always vote for the supposed "lesser" of two evils? A liberal anti-gun money squandering president is still a liberal anti-gun money squandering president regardless of the party affiliation letter after the name. Third party would give the republicans a much needed kick in the @$$ and hopefully bring them back somewhat toward the conservatism that they abandoned so rapidly under the reign of king George II.

You may post whatever you wish. But I, and others here, won't take orders from you:

So, suck it up...

I give my opinions here, but I don't bark orders the way you did.

Also, please, let's have no more hijacking the service of men and women of the US military as an excuse to vote for liberal Republicans.

I’m glad you agree that people should get their own health Insurance.

And most everything ELSE on their own; too!

Not having STUFF is a REALLY good incentive to get off your ass and WORK harder!

(Of course; given our countries slide towards Socialism and Communism, this has been taken off the table. Unka Sam will pay for your mistakes - you don't have to LEARN from them.)

"Believe me, you are not alone here.
The GOP is going the way of the Whig Party.
"

Iv'e now heard this several times! ...that we're going to get to watch the END of the GOP. Maybe it was planned this way, but perhaps not. Either way, what you suggest is feasible given the growing rift between conservatives.

It's also been said (rightfully so!) that the demise of the GOP is certainly a case of very BAD timing.

Thanks for the "word". It's gotten to where I cringe when I see that I have new posts because I expect yet somebody else to tell me how stupid I am for being willing to bring the nation down with my attitude. No, I don't believe it. But I do get tired of hearing it. :-)

If dollars won’t keep Fred or Hunter in this today I will use a No 2 Pencil on my ballot in November and write em in then......

MSM and their handlers will never drive who I vote for again.

That I promise, here and now. The lesser of two evils BS got us too this point in time. The GOP has relied on that concept at great cost to our republic over the last few years........ No more.

Stay safe Ya’ll !

None of us are Saints, but we seem to want God for a President.

And it looks like we just may get a fella who thinks that some day he'll BE one!

So, a plan where everyone is covered (somehow, details will be agonizing, I know) will actually drive costs down.

HUH???

Then let's apply these same (undisclosed details) to transportation:

"A 'plan' where everyone drives a new Cadillac will actually make getting to work cheaper!"

I'm not voting for any canidate now. GOP, you have effectively already elected a dem for POTUS!

If it happens YOU will have elected a dem for POTUS! It's time to wake up and smell the reality. Romney is the only viable candidate with any hint of conservatism. I was a Fred fan, but his poor campaign performance led to an inevitable conclusion. Hunter never had a chance. Staying away from the polls just gives the election to the rats.

The minority of Fredheads were the ones bashing. The rest cheered their guy on but were at least cordial about it.

The ones who DIDN'T know that Mitt had been a BISHOP in the LDS organization?

But we’ll have to see.

Indeed!

I liked this line in Charlie Wilson's War...

The Zen master says, 'We shall see.'

I was wavering between Thompson and Hunter for a while, and a few weeks ago, after researching some of the more ah, colorful articles about Ron Paul on this forum, realized that what I had been hearing was a load of crap and that he is the most consistent voice for liberty and small government out there.

This may be true; but the man is stuck with that FACE!
