McLean, VA - Senator Fred Thompson today issued the following statement about his campaign for President:

I, too, am supporting Romney and will join you in a healthy scream if McCain or Huckabee get the nod. Fight on!

God speed, Fred. You didn't lose - the United States of America did.

To all the loyal FRedHeads: Thank you for standing strong for conservative principles in the face of MUCH opposition against them. It's been a pleasure fighting the good fight with all you!

Like Fred, I also endorse no other candidate.

Prayers to Fred and his family.

"Oh, here we go with the treason hysterics. Unless you think that people should be administered capital punishment for sitting out an election, it ain't treason."

After watching Hillary call General Petraeus a liar, if you sit home and allow her to breeze into the Whitehouse it is damn close to treason. At any rate, in my book it's a bigtime wussy move. Boo! Run with your ball and go home. You didn't get you way..... You think I like the line up? Hell no!

- Fought hard for amnesty

- Only got the judges we wanted after we basically made him a lame duck

- Undercut the effort in the Scotus on the DC gun bad case

Foreign policy good, domestic stinks.

Kind of 50/50. No gain.

Good luck with that plan. We barely won in 2000 and 04. Nobody left on the “R” ticket can rally the side.

This country has no conservative candidate and my vote is now a stay home. This country is doomed

Do not see the problem with this position? Adults take these things for what they are move on. It is a sad occasion for Fred supporters but the GOP is better for him having been in the race.

Staying home is your option but it is not what Fred Thompson would want you to do. He wants you to vote for the person who think has the most to offer the country.

Romney is my only "hold my nose and vote" candidate. McCain, Giuliani, etc. are unacceptable and will cause me to write-in or vote third-party.

I will never pull a lever for a RINO again. And I'm tired of hearing the argument "If (Dem candidate) wins, we're 100% screwed -- but if you vote for (RINO candidate), we're only 90% screwed." That is an insane rationalization and I won't put up with it any more.

I am writing in Fred, or maybe Duncan Hunter.

I will not support Romney. He disgusts me.

Thanks, Mom.

When all the complaints about our “RINO” candidate (perhaps President) surface on FR, we’ll know who was right.

"Conservatives are now without a candidate—and possibly a country."

I know how you feel but hang in. In the 1976 I was crushed with Ford beat out Reagan and then we got saddled with Carter.

And to add insult in injury that was Carter after LBJ, Nixon and Ford. Talk about a death spiral.

But good things came of it and it was a dangerous time so there is hope.

In fact I'll go way out on a limb and speculate that with those still in the race, no matter the party, the winner will only serve one term.
