Romney reminds me of John Kerry.....running on a TV persona of statesmanlike "gravitas" rather than true substance.

Can you please inform me of all these 'liberal' laws Romney passed.

Not statements he made 15 years ago in the heat of a campaign, but actual legislation.

It’s a repeat of the 2000 pubbie ticket, but I’ll get behind it!

Mitt would hold all the Red States, put Mass on the table, and would carry Michigan. Game, set, match. He would probably take Minnesota and Wisconsin, as Bush early took them last time. The Romney name is GOLD in the Upper Mid-West. The Dems are in MORTAL fear of Mitt.

Yes! What I just don’t get about the Romney faithful is that they tell us he is a Conservative, listen to what he says now, don’t look at his record.

Couldn’t you then apply the same logic to Rudy and come to the same, flawed conclusion

Actually, one could argue that if McCain were the nominee, conservatives would be better off politically letting Hillary become President... by 2010 mid-terms people will be so disgusted with her that the GOP will retake both houses of Congress.

I don’t personally think that Huckabee and Giuliani can beat Hillary, so I view it as a choice between Romney and McCain. Given those two alternatives, I go with Romney hands down.

Good analysis. Romney's a winner.

I can't believe all the taking head putzes in the media who ignore him.

David Gergen, on CNN, suggested Romney should drop out if he didn't win Michigan.

Romney's socialized medicine platform is a travesty.

Good point, but Hillary should never be let anywhere near the national security, period.

I agree with your post except for one thing. I think that Giuliani could definitely beat Hillary. The sad thing is that it would be conservatives sitting out the election because they refuse to vote for a pro-choice candidate that would allow a pro-abortion candidate to win. I am very pro-life, but I think that being pro-choice (keeping abortion legal with restrictions) is not the same as being rabidly pro-abortion (abortion on demand, at any time in the pregnancy, with no restrictions).

BTW, Haley Barbour would make an excellent VP candidate for Romney.

There are lots of possibilities for VP. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Hillary has to choose first, which gives Mitt more time to assess.

The immediate need is to defeat McCain in Florida.

Rudy would never beat ANYBODY. Not with that bizarre wife of his. Deal-breaker.

“McCain must be defeated. He’d be a disaster.”

I agree. McCain is not who I will vote for now. That man is Romney - as close to “conservative” on as many issues as possible now - I wish he were more perfect, but such is life. Hopefully, he would make an effective choice of VP.

However, I was speaking with a local Democrat strategist/ activist here. He’s nearly giddy about the Democrats winning the presidency this year. However, after I pointed out how well McCain has been playing with “independents”, he agrees with me that if McCain were nominated by the Republicans, he will be impossible for either Hitlery or O’Dumbo to defeat. I pointed out to him that I did not believe that McCain will be able to win the nomination in the long run, as the closed primaries come into prominence, and he agreed with that, too.

McCain is not only the most dangerous for the conservative Republicans, he is most dangerous for the Demodogs, too.

I really don’t want to see a populist president, and I really don’t trust McCain’s judgment. The only positive thing I can say about him is that I believe he would be much better for America as President than either of the Demodogs.

His VP choice would be make or break for my vote.

That’s why he’s up in Florida- the snowbirds and q-tip crowds would love this.

Well that’s easy to answer. If nominated, McCain will choose Governor Tim Pawlenty to be VP, unless he’s forced to broker a deal with Huck.

Pawlenty is great, Huck a disaster.

McCsin has cussed out every member of the Senate.

If you're meaning McCain, I don't see that as a downside - I wish I could.
