HOW LONG DOES THE USA HAVE?
This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming. I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting and concerning to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage'
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by:
Gore: 19
Bush: 29
Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country.
Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
I agree completely.
February 12, 1999 was the day I lost my country.
If Hillary is elected in November, that will be the day that will see either a revolution, a military coup, or a second civil war within the time of her term or terms as President.
Although the post quoted an article that is not genuine, it is clear, that we are at a crossroads in American history. Anyone who can see clearly knows this, even instinctively.
The curse of the Clintons has one more chance to be defeated.
They were not in 1992 or 1996. In 2000 and 2004 Hillary was elected a Senator. Now in 2008, she stands an excellent chance of becoming President of the United States.
If she is not defeated, we are looking at the end of constitutional America. And a dark time in our future.
It will cost little to defeat her before she assumes the mantle of power. After she does, the cost will be more than we can imagine.
Of course, the year was 1860, and the candidate was Abraham Lincoln. But it's still a good point.
And Lincoln opposed a war that had been quite properly declared by Congress.
That’s the plan.
I have now done the research, that I obviously should have done before posting this. The facts are indeed riddled with inaccuracies and therefore fraudulent.
That being said, I agree with the context of the writing.
Hopefully the moderators will either pull the thread or it will die a quick death.
They said that rock and roll would never die. Well, maybe it hasn’t. But it sure doesn’t sound anything like it did in the beginning.
Its pretty much over now. When the Senate failed to remove a perjurer from the White House it became clear that our political system is not much more than a sham.
And thus:
Geeks out there may slash away but I dont believe I'm far off:
A current state of the art microprocessor can execute about thirty billion instructions per second, (not million but billion - also related to flops but to keep it simple use ips).
Using ones social security number, xxx-xx-xxxx, and taking ones position on the planet, to an accuracy of a fifty foot square, (e.g.xxxdeg xx.xx - xxxdegxx.xx) ones person-location can be given in about 72 bits, lets say 75.
Given three hundred million numbered individuals in the US, and dividing thirty billion by three hundred million means that the one processor (computer) can dedicate 100 instructions per second to each person; or conversely every 0.75 seconds (75bits /100 ips) a "person-location" can be moved to a memory register. That is, this one computer can roam over every individual, e.g. you, in the United States and return in three quarters of a second (given adequate input/output channels).
This means that if one wants to stay ahead of the computer one must move faster than fifty feet per three-quarters second, or about 40 mph; and thats constant motion because the computer, as long as it is fed electrical current, doesnt quit; if one stops it catches up. It also means there is an uncertainty index (now 40 mph), the Suntrade Uncertainty Index (SUI) similar to Heisenbergs Principle, which defines the tracking precision, or person-location, as a function of the current processor state of the art, resolution of location on the planet, and the total number of people tracked. This is the power, a government, an agency, a corporate stalker, or a Hillary Clinton, can exercise over every numbered citizen in the United States, kind of like the Borg, right now! And its increasing (mph) all the time.
What does this mean to you and I? It means that the government you elect better be Moral. It better be Honest. It better be Humble, and Mature enough to face its own faults and limitations. It better admit that freedom, responsibility, and dignity, of the individual is the primary reason for government in the first place. Because if it does not, but rather thrives on power over others, there will be power over others. The others is YOU.
Presented to you by the Suntrade Institute, not the Brookings Institution or the CFR.
And I am not holding my breath for a positive outcome.
Now that opinion is fact in my book! LOL
Illegals? While I think that is an area for concern, what happens when the government comes up with a healthcare plan to cover every citizen?
The end.
And we have some on our side who think this can’t happen soon enough.
Yep, and they fear what Hillary will do to this nation.
Who cares if we do the same thing and push it over the edge. At least the ‘dems’ didn’t do it.
I have seen this type of things going back decades. I don’t think it makes political converts, presented with the tone it uses.
For instance, claiming 40 percent are on the dole, lumps together widely different types of situations.
And when your objective is to make persuasive arguments, you shouldn’t leave gaping holes in your argument. The ones on the dole, include seniors who have paid into FICA for decades—yet this writer would lump them together with crack whores collecting welfare.
And then don’t miss on the benefits to corporations, through such goodies as farm subsidies, depletion allowances, etc.
I give us six months after she’s sworn in.
It’s a Conservative forum again? That’s a relief.
I blew it.
Isn't the first time and won't be the last.
I still can't help but wonder about the future of our Republic, even if the facts are totally fraudulent.
Thanks!
Agreed that the immigrant and illegal populations bear too large of a brunt of criticism. A great deal of America’s problems are home grown - useful idiots spawned in 60’s counter culture, crassness and instant gratification cultures.
While hispanic/latin immigration has many elements of an invasion through the sheer volume, the culture is also much more conservative, hard working, and family centered than say your average indigenous inner city “American” neighborhood. Education in the first generation of Latin immigrants is an issue, not language or culture. Sure there are plenty of bad apples in a group of 10-20 million, but there are much more chronic and deteriorating issues with say, American Black culture.
I have good friends that specialize in marketing to latin/hispanic households and can tell you that there a lot of reasons to be optimistic about the group in aggregate. Strong patriarchal structure in the families with sense of duty to provide for family over self first and foremost, and duty to the community.
I venture that many “native” Americans probably resent Mexican nationalism because complacency and political correctness has rendered American nationalism are fogotten and lost relics of our grandparent’s generations. While I don’t agree with these awkward early steps into/against assimilation, I do admire the spirit and potential they have to re-energize the American spirit.
My great-grandparents were uneducated German and Prussian farmers who worked the land and spoke their native tongues their whole lives in America. My grandparents generation spoke both languages and many fought boldly in Europe as Americans in WWII. My parents left all old-world traditions behind and were without doubt average middle class Americans. I am part of the first generation in my family to be college educated and fully removed from any remnants of the old world. Being blessed to have record of my family’s development here in America, I can’t help but have optimism for this new wave of immigrants.
I would contend that this is at best an incomplete statement.
No information is given about how starting and ending dates are calculated. But note that he references "civilizations," not governments.
On that basis the Roman civilization lasted almost a thousand years till the Western Empire fell, and almost another thousand till the Eastern Empire collapsed. That's close on 2,000 years of continuous Roman civilization.
The Chinese have had major interruptions and modifications to their system, but a unique continuous Chinese civilization with a great many characteristics in common throughout, can be traced back at least 3,000 years.
The same, although not quite as long, can be claimed for Japanese civilization.
The Maya civilization started sometime before 200, and was still plugging along, although somewhat tattered, when the Spanish arrived. That's 1300 years plus.
Andean civilization apparently goes back several thousand years before Christ. While it's probably wrong to call this a single civilization, it had strong elements of continuity throughout.
Heck, look at England. It's present government is just a continuous evolution from the one installed in 1066, and it's not been conquered by an exterior invader in all that time.

Significant Scots
Alexander Fraser Tytler
TYTLER, ALEXANDER FRASER, usually styled Lord Woodhouselee, was born in Edinburgh, on the 15th of October, 1747. He was the eldest son of William Tytler, esquire of Woodhouselee, by his wife, Anne Craig. The earlier rudiments of education he received from his father at home; but in the eighth year of his age, he was sent to the High School, then under the direction of Mr Mathison. At this seminary, young Tytler remained for five years, distinguishing himself at once by the lively frankness of his manners, and by the industry and ability with which he applied himself to, and pursued his studies. The latter procured him the highest honours of the academy; and, finally, in the last year of his course, obtained for him the dignity of dux of the rectors class.

It is a good, clear, and sobering "read"...
Having read it, my anger at Clinton's enablers -- and at Specter's "Scottish Law" cop-out -- was fully re-kindled.
If I based my decision solely on these statements by Senator Hutchison, I would wish that KBH were running head-to-head against Clinton's co-conspirator, the Hildabeast...
I will accept as a given what others have said about the words... As to the meaning of them- I am very concerned about the fact that about half the pop does NOT pay income taxes, yet votes more for the rest of us that do. There is little to say about the character of Americans in comparison to previous ones- much of what shapes us is what circumstances we are born into. Even the poor of today are rich in many ways. We don’t have a draft anymore. Social Security & Medicare take care of our old, instead of their families. I could go on and on. There is something inherently unfair about our tax system. Many of our problems spring from it. The other big threat from govt per se is the constant stream of well-intentioned legislation and regulation shoved at us - the War on Drugs, the War on Terror to name two, with many of the same problems - we frequently have to prove our innocence to this once small Federal govt of ours. Really, there aren’t that many problems the Feds can fix. They try to do too much, and when they fail, they take more money to try harder.
