May I add as well that when a major political party ran for President a candidate who years earlier had openly sided against America during a time of war, it became clear that a terrible poison has been introduced into our body politic.Of course, the year was 1860, and the candidate was Abraham Lincoln. But it's still a good point.
And Lincoln opposed a war that had been quite properly declared by Congress.
