HONOLULU - The man in hospital scrubs threw the toddler like a doll from a pedestrian overpass to the freeway humming with traffic. The 2 1/2-year-old boy fell 30 feet to the asphalt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The horrifying incident Thursday on the highway cutting through the heart of the city shocked Honolulu residents, causing panicked parents to phone day care centers to check on their children.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man they say occasionally baby-sat the child after witnesses saw him throwing something, followed him and called authorities.
Kraig Hengst told The Honolulu Advertiser he was working in an apartment garage across the street from the overpass when he saw a man "toss the baby" at about 11:40 a.m.

A woodchipper or guillotine comes to mind./Just Asking - seoul62.....
Or placed in a pool of piranhas.
2.5 YEARS old is not a “baby”.
I know a toddler would have the recognition that this was bad and was terrified. A baby (2.5 months? old) probably not. I can’t imagine this. The animals that do this should be killed asap.
Much too quick.........
What is happening to the world????
Is everyone going insane!!!
I don’t think Hawaii imposes the death penalty. Sad.
There are some things that just warrant cruel and unusual punishment.
Too bad the perp didn't resist arrest.
Prisoners do have a way of taking care of certain predators....

How about rat poison or just release him to the general prison population at San Quentin./Just Asking - seoul62........
Fortunately... not everyone. Just this guy. And a few others.
I really can't grasp how this is possible. How diseased does a mind have to be to commit an atrocity like this? I mean... there's some *really* bad crazy and evil people in the world and even they would stop short before doing this.
I just don't know for sure what the world is shaping up to, but even as bad as it is these days I know that we're still kinder, more polite, more genteel, and socially stronger than Medieval Europe.
So, there you have it: It's still not as bad as the Dark Ages. We're getting there though.
The first thing I thought of was how horrible the person in the car who couldn’t stop, the car who first hit the child must have felt. I had checked the traffic cams for my husband yesterday who had heard H1 was closed for some reason - I didn’t see any cars at all in either direction around 2:30 so I relayed the news that it did appear to be closed. I didn’t realize why until several hours later. The poor mother didn’t hear about her son until late last night. One of the networks had video of her arriving home to an apartment building surrounded by police. It was heart rending. The guy had a mental health history but had never been violent. I wonder if she knew about his history when she let him babysit.
No big deal. Just an 11th trimester abortion.
This story has brought me to tears. My God, how horrible.

Should he be convicted, perhaps his fellow inmates might do the job Hawaii’s judge and juries won’t do.
This is the most sickening story I’ve ever heard. Unfortunately, it was more sickening than the other story that ran the same day where a woman’s “boyfriend (6’2” 300 lb) rammed into her car, pulled her out and beat her to death in the street in the presence of bystanders with a loaded shotgun. A bystander trying to help the helpless woman was hurt and hospitalized. She was a petite woman, mother of 5.
There isn’t a punishment I could conceive that would be appropriate for either crime.
I read in another article he had been in and out of mental hospitals.
