Rush must endorse Fred before Saturday!

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary shows that John McCain and Mike Huckabee are tied at 24%. In a race that has already seen four different candidates with the lead, much could still change in the coming days—7% of voters have yet to make up their mind, 10% say there’s a good chance they could change their mind, and another 24% might change their mind.

Mitt Romney attracts 18% support and Fred Thompson 16%. Those figures are little changed from the previous survey

BOTTOM LINE: McCAIN MUST BE BEATEN.

My suggestion: Pick the candidate who has the best chance of beating him (except for Giuliani).

People are silly to attribute thoughts and feelings to Rush Limbaugh.

This article is just wishful thinking on the authors part.

A vote for Thonmpson is a vote for McCain and Thompson ONLY as McCains running mate or Thompson being in McCains cabinet. Fred has no REAL interest in winning. Period.

He badly wants to throw the full weight of conservatism behind that candidate.

If that were the case, I doubt that Rush would be holding back. Rush isn't the 'shy' type.

Another guy wanting to claim a virtual endorsement for Thompson from Rush, who has clearly and articulately stated why he doesn’t and won’t endorse anybody, and has also clearly and articulately stated that he would find THREE candidates as acceptable.

Frankly, at some point, trying to force your views on Rush, when he clearly will not do so himself, is disrespectful.

If Rush wanted to endorse Fred he would. He has not done so. It would be bad for business and Rush is a consumate professional.

RUSH will not endorse anyone in the primaries, for the simple fact that he can't alienate listeners. Wishing won't make it so.

Now, I *am* surprised that the NRA hasn't jumped into this fight yet. It'll be over and they'll still be on the sidelines.

Why is everyone sitting around waiting for Rush to tell you who to vote for? Why not choose a candidate of your very own and go with it? Just asking.......

When Rush Limbaugh AND Jim Robinson get behind a candidate, you can bet that guy is the real deal.

Rush certainly likes Fred Thompson as a good conservative.

I’ve been listening intently to Limbaugh the past two months, and he constantly promotes and supports Romney by REFUSING to repeat all the clap-trap baloney which the left and right tries to throw at Mitt.

Also, Rush’s upbeat voice inflection when talking about Romney is unmistakable. Yes, he made one reference to talk about Romney flip flopping. But he didn’t dwell on it, and he actually made an excuse for Romney later in the same show.

Limbaugh has come to the conclusion which many conservative Republicans have.

Which is that Fred might be the most consistent conservative.....

... but Romney is the better candidate because Romney everday is putting out a positive tax-cutting pro-family upbeat message.

Not to say that Fred doesn’t also put out a good message, but Romney has the pizazz and energetic style which attracts upbeat Republicans... which Rush certainly is.

The best thing Rush said about Fred is that Fred is the only candidate who seems to be gaining support in S. Carolina, even though he notes that Fred is still below Romney in vote percentage.

Rush playing clips of Fred & Mitt as we speak. Rush did take a call from a Fredhead today who was mad at Rush about yesterday's many women callers praising Mitt (now known as Mittens). Next came a call from a Mitt supporter which prompted Rush to say that he didn't want his show to sound like campaign commercials.

From recent shows:

RUSH: It looks like we have a conservative in the race, folks.

Rush is right. But why isn’t Fred doing better? He should be running away with the nomination.

I was wondering that yesterday, when a woman called, and i think she was complaining about Huckabee and pretty much endorsing Romney. After a bit though, she started to say “...then there’s Thompson, who I like except-”

Then WHAM! Rush diverted the subject entirely, and the woman never spoke again.

I am truly starting to wonder if he is avoiding talking about Fred as much as possible, to keep the media off of him. The MSM is expecting him to endorse sombody, and maybe backing Fred too soon would be chumming the waters.

Congrats on the lively thread, Route66. Some folks around here need to learn a few things:

Negative campaigning can work in some places, but I don’t think it works at FR. It simply hardens existing attitudes. FR posters tend to be much better informed than the general populace, we can make up our own minds, and we will.

No one gives a damn who you won’t vote for, and no one gives a damn that you might stay home on election day. Blackmail will not work. This idea that I should change my vote because you will otherwise not vote has zero effect on me, and is an insult to my duty to use my vote as I see fit for the good of my country. Your vote or non-vote is no more important than mine, and cannot be used as a cudgel to change my vote. I will vote however I please regardless of tantrums and threasts.

Who you WILL vote for may have an effect on others. Among informed yet undecided voters (FR), positive support for a candidate can have an effect.

My 2 cents.

I don’t understand, why do people giving their opinion on politics for a living are hated even by conservatives? For crying out loud, Rush Limbaugh is the reason we conservatives have a voice out there. Get over your arrogant selves. In today’s world one slight disagreement with someone in the media, and you are a RINO, that’s sad and shallow.
