...You can hear it in Limbaughs voice and see it in his face. He badly wants to throw the full weight of conservatism behind that candidate. He so desperately wants to that his teeth probably hurt. Hes waiting, waiting for someone to take the lead. Get noticed. Hes waiting for someone to give him the go ahead to cream the opposition.
You can hear the excitement in Rushs voice when he talks about the South Carolina primary. Its The Passion. The passion of conservatism emerging when he talks about that primary. Why, you ask? Because, for the first time since the primaries have begun, conservative Republicans will be voting for fellow conservative Republicans...
...Rush Limbaugh believes in conservatism. Its engrained in his soul. He introduced me to it, and now its engrained in my soul. I can recognize it like a tick on a white dog. Its as obvious as that.
I recognize it in Senator Fred Thompson, and so does Rush Limbaugh. Hes hinted, hes implied, and hes even begged conservatives to see what he sees in Fred Thompson. He sees conservatism, the same kind of conservatism he saw in Ronald Reagan. He doesnt want long, bloated policy. He wants simple, effervescent conservatism for Americans to unfold before their very eyes...

Chris, I couldn’t agree with you more. I truly think Fred is Rushs’ man, as he is mine.

Rush is not going to endorse anyone right now. He does nsot have to. If listeners cannot figure out his message; they probably would not agree with his choice, if the did. And for sure; by all he has said re Conservtive values; agree that Fred stands first. Mitt pulls a second, IMHO.
He realizes there is no perfect Conservative package but that choosing a 'Dem favorite' is NOT the answer.
/That said; great writing, Chris./

p.s. think Rush also realizes that Fred is 'not going to happen'; and so. . .Mitt remains the best of the Repub field.
Perhaps, like many of us 'out here'; simply by observing experience, committment. . .energy; and while Fred has our greatest respect; that Mitt IS the best candidate we can choose.
But that is just a guess. . .
Rush does not have to 'endorse'; but he surely is trying to wake up any Repubs who otherwise may be asleep.

Morkfork, why don't you and the other Huckster supporters check out the Arkansas page here on FR. We here in Arkansas were great supporters of the Huck in the early days. We were thrilled when he was elected Governor.
He started out fine as Governor, but then his true colors slowly came out. He is as liberal as Bill Clinton was!
I hear him saying the very same things on this campaign as he said when running for Governor, and he is lying through his teeth!
Don't believe me? The look back through some of the older posts on the Arkansas page, if they are still there. You'll see how he turned into Bill Clinton II.

LOL! Thanks for the link to the “Charding” thread. I’ve been seeing ‘Chard’ on the Fred threads, but didn’t know to what it referred.

Therefore, I think holding back this time may exact a a high price.I agree completely. Rush isn't blind. He can see what is going on. Now is the time for him to speak up.

And after Michigan:
RUSH: Boy, the Drive-Bys are beside themselves with the results of the Michigan primary last night. They cannot get it through their heads, they're just skunked that Republicans actually voted against McCain. They cannot believe it, and so now it's time to trash Republicans. I don't care what anybody wants to say, Mitt Romney is now the front-runner. That may not last because this is a very, very fluid situation. But here you have McCain, who lost, and nobody's out saying, "Why, he's gotta win South Carolina, he's gotta win South Carolina, he's finished, he's done!" Nobody's saying that. They continue to say it about Romney in every primary. He's leading the delegate count now. Even some of the commentators on our side are a little flummoxed and upset about this. (cont.)

He does not support a new AWB. My point is that any AWB would be new, because there is none in effect now. The 1994 AWB expired. There is no doubt Romney would support the same AWB if Congress attempted to re-impose it.

In his statements, Romney has specifically noted that the AWB has expired, and has said that now that it has expired, he would NOT support it’s re-introduction. He will ONLY support laws that are in effect when he takes office.

Come on, Rush. It’s Thompson Time!

Did you see the piece about the journalist who was heckling Romney? That man has a temper; you could see he was about to explode and having trouble controlling it, even knowing he was on camera.
I don’t want a hothead president. That seems more dangerous to me than a lying philanderer.

You missed my sarcasm I guess. I was questioning the Huckster’s viability. Until Fred Thompson wins or gets out, he’s my man. After that, probably Romney, the best of the worst that would be left if Fred drops.
My wife and I both agree the Huckster is Jimmy Carter 32 years later. I remember those times as a kid. The Days of Maliase. Too, too similar.
