Hey, Mike Huckabee wasn't the only one speaking in church Sunday. Barack Obama was in Vegas speaking at a church there, and Rudy Giuliani spoke at a huge mega-church in Florida. Read below from The Associated Press:

With his plan for winning the GOP presidential nomination riding largely on a Florida victory at the end of the month, Rudy Giuliani asked an evangelical congregation for prayers instead of votes Sunday and quoted scripture to evoke a message of hope and perseverance.

"I'm not coming here to ask for your vote," he said. "That's up to you and it's not the right place. But I am coming here to ask you for something very special and more important: I'm asking for your prayers."

While other Republican candidates are focused on Tuesday's Michigan primary, Giuliani is following a strategy of pushing for a January 29 victory in Florida he hopes will propel him toward a dominant showing on February 5, when more than 20 states hold primaries and caucuses, and then on to the nomination.

Once a strong front-runner in national polls, the former New York City mayor has fallen well behind the three candidates jockeying for a victory in Michigan, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

"I've faced odds that were at times seemingly impossible, situations where people had given up hope, but we didn't listen to the doubters, we didn't listen to the naysayers," Giuliani told several thousand worshippers at El Rey Jesus Church in Miami.

"Fear not, be strong, and of good courage," he added, quoting the Bible. The church, which has a congregation of 10,000 people, was his first stop on a three-day bus tour through Florida.

OK. I know all you Giuliani bashers see Giuliani speaking at a church and have all these unkind thoughts. Repent!

Seriously though…whatever you think of Giuliani and some of his personal issues, when he says he needs people's prayers, I'm sure he's being very genuine. When it comes to winning in Florida, he could sure use some answered prayer.

Giuliani's biggest threat could be a steamrolling John McCain. Think about it. Giuliani has based his campaign on fighting terrorism and electability. John McCain can match him on both of those items. But if McCain wins in Michigan and South Carolina, it may be so much momentum that Giuliani all of a sudden gets into a world of trouble with McCain in Florida and Feb. 5.

Yup. That's what the Holy Spirit was talking about with these words of divine encouragement to the persecuted Church: if your political campaign is failing and your strategy unfolding, "Fear not, be strong, and of good courage." Yup, that's what was meant......

Imagine the fits in the Conservative media like National Review if this was Mike Huckabee -- Imagine if this was Mitt Romney, and how the press would destroy him -- Just IMAGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just amazing.

Rudy Giuliani is a man with no ethical core, no conscience, and no moral inhibitions. This is the campaign of a desperate and dastardly man who will do and say anything - ANYTHING - in his insatiable lust for power. Life of our youngest children, the Constitution, Scripture — there is nothing so sacred that he is unwilling to bastardize it authoritarian-like to impose his personal desires upon every single person he has the power to do so to. There is no standard but his own - everything else is malleable.

This man should be kept as far away from the most powerful office in the world as possible.

Times like this are the reason I proudly run the "Stop Rudy" ping list. In this one battle, I know that I fight the good fight.

And as to his Florida Firewall strategy - he really screwed the pooch here, proves he's a dimwit and mentally unfit for office. The GOP stripped FL half of it's delegates for moving the primary date up. Moron Rooty is banking all for a whooping fifty-seven, that's 57 delegates!

So out of the 1,191 he'd need to win the nomination, IF he won FL he'd 'only' need another ... 1,114!

See this doesn't make me mad. Yes it reveals some lack of knowledge, but it also shows he isn't hostile to faith in general. God will deal with him on misuses. In a politician it's hostility to faith I reject. Their hostilities should be directed toward our nation's enemies, foreign and domestic. Religious faith in the nation's citizens is a good thing and should not be treated as some sort of evil like many politicians do these days.

You are right, however, that everyone would be outraged if this were Huckabee. I remember in the 70's when many of my fellow Southern Baptists were all excited about Jimmy Carter being SB too. Of course that was perfectly okay with the media. Now it is a scandal if SBs are happy to have another SB candidate. Even Clinton tapped into that. So did Gore. Of course they didn't seem genuine and so it didn't work so well, but still... The problem people have is with GENUINE faith. So Guiliani offers words of wisdom without even meaning to. "Fear not, be strong and of good courage..."

To me it shows he will pander to them, something that I don't necessarily equate with a lack of hostility. The two are not mutually exclusive and Rudy has shown that he will use most anyone to advance himself personally, politically and professionally.

Hey, he even got Pat Robertson’s endorsement, didn’t he? I like Guiliani. I won’t ever vote for him because I don’t agree with his liberal views.
