Ghandi is a living reminder of the following comment;

‘The meek shall inherit the earth...exactly six feet of it to be precise.’

I had never heard of Ghandi's treatise on "the Jews". I was awestruck -- and sickened -- by the following:

But if the Jewish mind could be prepared for voluntary suffering, even the massacre I have imagined could be turned into a day of thanksgiving and joy that Jehovah had wrought deliverance of the race even at the hands of the tyrant. For to the godfearing, death has no terror. It is a joyful sleep to be followed by a waking that would be all the more refreshing for the long sleep.

What an amazingly horrible irony that turned out to be....

Ghandi and the Indians also had the fortune of having the British as their oppressors.

No Jew would accept that kind of advice. Judaism is filled with a love of God and a praise of peace but it does not embrace pacifism and the counsel to offer up no resistance to evil. For Jews, the Holocaust is not something relegated to the category of ancient history; to the contrary, the threat of renewed genocide is very much a real fear. That is why Iran's attempts to gain possession of a nuclear bomb concerns the Jewish people a great deal. Arun Ghandi, therefore is the last person on earth who should lecture Jews to turn the other cheek. A true hope for peace upon the earth will only be realized only when evil is finally vanquished.

Gandhi seems to have been too ignorant to realize that nonviolence only works as a strategy against English speakers who believe in representative government.

Nonviolent resistance does not work against Nazis or Communists or Islamists.

Gandhi himself was never in danger of losing his life to the British "oppressor" - when he was murdered he was murdered by a fellow Hindu.

Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis whether they obeyed the laws or didn't obey the laws. And Gandhi was either too stupid or too self-righteous to realize that.

It must have been tough to stand up against the Brits. It is a sad irony, but he had no idea of the scale of the massacre that was in store for the Jews. His grandson on the other hand, has no plausible denyability.

True. Pacifist resistance is noble practiced against a power will humanitarian benevolence. It is a prescription for civilizational suicide when proferred to a regime that has no compunction about liquidating its opponents.

I can remember my mother talking about Ghandi...

She said that he would starve himself, in order to manipulate the British...

he would claim it was a “fast” for the Indian people..but he was really blackmailing England...

If he died during one of his “fasts” (which he did so often he was not well) the people would raise up and toss out the British..

he never intended to die though and he would let the British, convince him to stop his “fast” before that would happen...

That went on for years..he had the people so stirred up that the British were scared of uprisings and murders of the white population...

Ghandi was not a “holy” man, just a conman....

I am sure that there were many people who understood even back then (1938!) how amazingly horribly asinine his recipe was. Anyway, it was 1938, what is our excuse now? Why would anybody follow his advise when we know what happened?

The Gandhi grandson — Arun — impresses me as an incredibly stupid man, maintaining himself on his ancestor’s legacy. But perhaps he is a good fit on today’s university campus.

I think that's worthy of a "Nailed it!" Gandhi makes me puke.

This highlights something the Jewish people and the American people have in common. The whole world loves us when we're being slaughtered. Once we fight back, though, we might as well be the second coming of Genghis Khan.

Why would anybody follow his advise when we know what happened?

To answer the question, the pic I posted above ... is from the Rachel Corrie Foundation website, which gives you some idea of what prompts his slobbery rant.

I think the motivation is two-fold. The smaller part is driven by antisemitism, and the larger part by some short-sighted and ill-considered opinions centered on "being mean to underdogs."

In the case of Israel, I seriously believe that liberals are so uncomfortable with the idea that the Israelis are devoted to agressive self-defense, and so married to the idea that they're being "mean" to the Palestinians, that they'll do anything to justify the horrors committed by the Palestinians.

I seriously doubt that they have consciously evil intent; they're just so monumentally stupid, naive, and ideologically constipated that the consequences of their actions are undeniably evil. I suppose that makes them even more dangerous....

Maybe a bit lower. It’d help if it nailed his jaw shut.
