If Republicans, candidates and base alike, cannot pull themselves out of the funk in which they find themselves, it soon will be time to start making the best of a bad situation. Some truly believe the GOP blew its big chance, their first and best chance in about 50 years. They think it might be better, even for Republicans, to see how a Barack Obama might do in office and for Republicans to join the Miami Dolphins and the St. Louis Rams in putting this season behind them and trying to salvage next season.

If I were forced - FORCED - to choose among those three....I think that I'd pick Obama. For the simple reason that he'd be an ineffectual one-term president and would likely do the least damage to the country while in office.
BTW, I heard this weekend that Edwards has had some issues with showing up ontime to his campaign rallies. A wit suggested that someone park an ambulance out front of the rally...would ensure that he'd show up on time. LOL!
This is likely to change in the near future I would guess.
Maybe he can ask John Dingle to run as his running mate...then he can be the Dingle-Barry Ticket.
Obama said last year that the Palestinians were “the most oppressed people in the world”.
These are from the same idiots that said it would be good for us to lose in 2006.
The GOP death-wish and sado-masochistic circular firing squad continues.
Most worthwhile post of the day. Interesting connections you bring up.
“Maybe a liberal in a crusty brown pantsuit, whose every flaw we know, would be preferble?”
At least Hillary unites the GOP and we won’t have to suffer under the egregiously flawed arguments that a liberal socialist aint so bad.
Please, find a liberal writing an op-ed on “Maybe a Duncan Hunter presidency would be good for us”. They aren’t writing them - why?!? Because they want to WIN.
This conservative zeal for losing is a complete CLUSTERHUCK.
Hi Beckwith! You’ve put it together beautifully...may I suggest you do the same on every Obama thread? It’s so disappointing to see how many FReepers have absolutely no idea who this Obama really is.
Conservative do not “win” merely by stopping the other guy from moving his agenda forward. With Judge appointments alone the damage a Democrat would do to the next 30 years of Conservatism would be enormous and irreversiable.
As usual, you just nailed it. On Judge appointments alone the damage a Democrat President would do to the Conservative Movement's future would be enormous and irreversible.
Bump!
There will be at least 3 new SC Justices appointed in the next 4 years based simply on the age and health of the current crop of SC Justices.
On Judges alone Bush has been a tremendous President. I know the hysteric Bush haters with their perpetual whining that their political glass is only 70% full don’t want to hear that, but it is true.
Past time the usual whiners around here grow the hell up. Most of us are completely sick of how this small collection of Freepers show up thread after thread to post the same totally useless “I hate Bush” rants
Past time the Bush haters in the Conservative movement grow up. You didn’t get everything you wanted out of Bush. Well guess what, you did not out of Reagan either. We Conservatives never do. Neither does the Left. That why our system of Govt works so well. Checks and balances.
Way past time the Bush whining stop. The past is done and it time Conservatives start looking to the future.
Pretty high price for our children to pay for this generation’s momentary infatuation with a vague, glib speaking political con man who has yet to lay out any sort of real agenda he would work towards.
You want to hear something funny? Duncan got a delegate Saturday in Wyoming. McCain and Guiliani still don’t have a delegate. :)
Somehow I just can't get the image of "Triumph" out of my head now. Must be the word SOCIALIST...
Or did I miss something?
Only a matter of time.
Bush has done more damage to the Republican Party and the Conserative Cause than any man in recent history. Nixon comes to mind, but Reagan made up for most of that.
Come ON FRed!!!!!!!!!
Sure. Great. Then we'll run the risk of having Britney Spears as president
