The District told the Supreme Court yesterday that even if the Second Amendment affords an individual right to possess firearms, the city's ban on handguns is...

"The Framers' phrasing of the Second Amendment was in fact a natural way to protect a militia-related right," the brief states. "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good" (George Washington)

This in a nutshell is the crux of the problem. These anthrophobes want gun control and they simply lie unashamedly to achieve this goal. They want this goal and are unconcerned about how many bodies they have to climb over to achieve it. You may as well try to argue with a mad dog as argue with a gun control supporter. You are dealing with an unreasoning hatred of humanity cloaked behind a false front of compassion.

So if I get this right, all you have to do to nullify the Constitution, either in part or on the whole, is to prove that people are too dangerous to be trusted with their own rights.
This is a clever strategy. It doesn't involve overturning the 2nd Amendment, but leaving it in place (you can even recognize it as an individual right) with the stipulation that it'll never be enforced because the plebeians can't be trusted with it.

"In enacting the handgun ban, the Council found that less restrictive approaches would not be adequate," the District's brief states. The council concluded that "the ultimate resolution of the problems of gun-created crimes and gun-created accidents . . . is the elimination of the availability of handguns." Where is Hillary when you need the "suspension of disbelief" statement? The absolute liar in this case seems to think that its okay to strip only those who obey the law of their gun while the CRIMINAL DOES NOT get their weapon taken from them. That they speak this way about it reveals clearly their LIE to make their argument. The ban strips the law abiding citizen. The criminal knows this and now advances on society as they wish because they now have the upper hand.
It is my sincere hope that people keep up this debate in the public square and persist in their efforts to marginalize those who seek to strip you of freedom and the right to protect yourself because they all need to be shamed out of existence.

So their basic argument is “we don’t care what the constitution says, we should be able to do what we want.” I guess the influence of the federal government is wearing off on the D.C. leadership.
Hopefully the court will slap them down very hard.

The police do not want to admit to their failure in not protecting the citizenry and their adherence to the words Protect and Serve.I'd rather carry a weapon than a police officer.

They are correct...it indeed DOES prevent harm: to criminals, felons, perverts, second story men, B&E specialists, stick-up men, rapists, and all their fellow travelers.

Mighty busy those guns, creating all that.
What’s next, gun created arson? Gun created illegal parking?

My sentiments exactly. Too many police chiefs will not admit that the police are an “after the fact” force. Too many good citizens wind up dead because of police and the justice systems inactions against criminals. The anti-gunners all have the “Dodge City” fear. Hell in many large cities, the homicide rate is climbing.

Ask Democratic Senator Don Perata who was recently carjacked and a very staunch anti-gunner.
