All this stupid hype over Iowa, and Wyoming has exactly the same amount of delegates.

Actually Wyoming had 28 delegates but the National GOP penalized them 50% for having this event prior to Feb. 5. So currently they have a total of 14 delegates 12 of which are being chosen today.... Speculation is that whomever is the eventual nominee will wave the penalty and seat all the delegates from states that were penalized. Time will tell on that one.

Considering Hunter’s “strategy” depends on a good showing in Wyoming with the 10 people caucusing and their horses........he better win at least 1. Though since nobody cares about the caucus, even if he took first place, it would not help his campaign at all.

If Mitt wins or places 2nd in Wyoming or NH he will have more delegates than any other GOP candidate, provided Huck does not win or place 2nd in either state.

At this point, I can't see the difference between John McCain and Mitt Romney being more than a few percent in New Hampshire. With 12 delegates on the line and delegates awarded proportionally to those with more than 10% of the vote, I'm fairly certain that Mr. Romney and Mr. McCain will have 5 delegates each. I expect Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee to split the remaining two delegates.

From what I've heard, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani have had the strongest numbers in Wyoming. Only Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, and Mitt Romney have campaigned in Wyoming. I'm sure that Rudy Giuliani will win a delegate or two. Fred Thompson might win one, and I'm still hoping that Duncan Hunter wins a delegate. For now, I'll assume an 8-2-1-1 division of these twelve delegates.

If I'm right, the count on Wednesday morning will be:

Mitt Romney 13
John McCain 5
Rudy Giuliani 3
Fred Thompson 1
Mike Huckabee 1
Duncan Hunter 1

If Ron Paul breaks 10% in New Hampshire, then Mitt Romney's total might be one lower, and Ron Paul can be added to the list with one delegate.

I agree but the speculations was that the nominee wouldn’t want to tick off a state GOP group and thus would call for them to be seated. But we do need some enforcement of this primary season gone wild, imo. These states agreed to the rules when they were adopted and then decided they could do as they pleased. Not sure what the answer is but some type structure is needed to help stop what has occurred this time. jmo.

You are not quite correct, sir. Hunter has an alternate that won’t vote. If he gets a delegate, then yes, he is in 2nd place nationally behind Romney in voting delegates to the convention, since Iowa’s caucuses have a different certification arrangement.

What you've said is true, but I would still place the candidate with 1 alternate above the candidate with no delegates or alternates.

Giving credit where credit is due at least Brownback joined Hunter and Thompson to show Casper and Wyoming the courtesy attending our debate in September.

Yabbutt, if WY only picks 12 delagates + 12 alternates today, where are the 28 going to come from?

It’s looking good for Romney, since he carried the delegates in Albany County (county seat, Laramie, home of the University of Wyoming) and in Laramie County (county seat, Cheyenne, the state capital). These counties are in southeast Wyoming, the northern extension of the Colorado Front Range. In any case, this area does not have the Mormon concentration that you find in western Colorado.

WY is being penalized half its delegates for jumping the Feb 5 date. Thus IA has 40 delegates and WY has 14, instead of their usual 28.

Yeah, I don’t think there is a mechanism if the 50% cut is restored for the state party trying to undo the will of the counties. It’s a pretty clean process.
