Nine people are dead and dozens of churches and hundreds of Christians' homes have been torched during a surge of Hindu violence in India, according to reports from organizations working there.

Compass Direct News reports that the deaths and damage have been reported since Christmas Eve, when members of the extremist World Hindu Council launched their assaults on the faithful belonging to Christianity.

"Orissa state's Kandhamal district remains tense 10 days after the series of anti-Christian attacks began, and thousands of Christians whose houses have been burned down are facing hunger and fear," the Compass Direct report said.

Why are they going after the Christians? I thought their problem was with the Muslims?

Some Hindus, primarily low-caste or untouchables, have been converting to Christianity.

Some of the local Hindus don’t take to this much more kindly than the Saudis do when a Muslim converts to Christianity.

With these radical Hindus everyone who isn’t Hindu is their “problem”.

I don’t know. You’d have to ask them. I guess they can’t stand the competition!

But you can voice your outrage to the Consulate General of India, New York, USA here:

They also hate Christians. This, however, will spur our government to admit many, many more Hindus into the US just like it did with Moslems.

“Why are they going after the Christians? I thought their problem was with the Muslims?”

Easy. The Christians are a small minority, essentially helpless and poorly protected by the largely inefficient Indian government. The Muslims are numerous, and (let’s face it) rather tough. Hindus are not known for great bravery. Naturally they will attack the more helpless if they cannot get at their more obvious rivals.

Psychiatrists would call this displacement. It’s like the guy who comes home from the office and kicks the dog, or abuses his wife or the kids.

Of course, it makes little sense for the Indians to behave like this. Christians in India don’t go around attacking non-Christians. Mobs and movements don’t act rationally.

But... but... but... Don't you know all cultures and all religions are equally good and peaceful except radical Christians (and all Christians who do not support abortion, homosexuality and other liberal causes are radical)... /sarc

And just because Christians are a “small minority” in India;
they don’t deserve the same rights to live and worship freely as every other person there?
Where the hell did you learn that logic? Germany?

That's right -- they take such conversions to be the highest insult. This is all about badly bruised egos. ....which is ironic in this particular case, since Hindu meditiation practices focus almost exclusively on eliminating the individual ego. ...unsuccessfully, apparently.

I’m thinking the same thing. If living Christians (the church militant) will not protect themselves, they will be gone. The resurgence of violent pagan sects is something that must be addressed.

Because the Muslims will return the favor. I often wondered why Islam did not take over India. Apparently, the Hindus resisted too violently. I suspect most of the converts to Islam were from the lower castes to escape the upper castes.

It was only a matter of time before other religious hot heads started adopting muzzi methods. IMHO this type of activity will expand because it was not forcefully put down when it started. We better get our ducks in a row. I’d say about 20 years past time.

I often wondered why Islam did not take over India.

Actually, they did. Not long before the real British expansion began, the Mogul Empire completed its conquest of the entire subcontinent under Aurangzeb.

However, this turned out to be an imperial overstretch and the empire promptly began falling apart, at least partly because Aurangzeb was a proto-Islamist, who abandoned the previous Mogul policy of allowing Hindu princes religious freedom so they could use them as vassals, rather than trying to force them to convert.

When the empire disintegrated, it left a vacuum the British eventually filled, although they had to fight Marathas, Sikhs, Afghans, the French and others for a couple of centuries to do so.

It is interesting that India has been truly united under one rule only a few times in its long history, and then only briefly. Despite its present split into three nations, it's almost as united now as it's ever been.

I don’t know about fictional characters like “Indiana Jones” played by some lame actor like Harrison Fairy Ford but there are enough battle hardened Marine Corps combat veterans in America that this shiite wouldn’t fly in America.

I’ve made it crystal clear to every camel jockey I know that one more 9/11 type terrorist attack in America and every muzzie swinging dick will have to pack up his koran and family and go back to whatever hellhole they originated from. Our ancestors didn’t risk life & limb to emigrate to America just so a bunch of camel jockeys could come here, terrorize our women & children and make hamburger out of our families.

Semper Fi,
Kelly
