DES MOINES, Iowa – Several Republican officials close to Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign said they expect the candidate will drop out of the race within days if he finishes poorly in Thursday’s Iowa caucus.

Fred has got them running scared. This report is pure BS. Fred will stay in past SC and I believe will have gained so much ground by then that he will be a lock for the nomination.

I think Thompson’s still in it. A Southern man’s not going to wear out a pair of shoes and an excellent Chevy pickup for nothing. And...third place after the smear and the MSM’s Soviet-style “non-person” treatment: that’s Huge. He’s connecting despite the powers arrayed against him.
