Of course, there is much to disdain about The New Rules of Marriage, but what offended me most was its pervasive celebration of inequality amongst the sexes. Women want more out of relationships today so…men must give it to them. Why is that the case? In every equitable transaction, the side who asks for more must offer more in exchange. This leads us to ask, what do modern women offer men that is superior to what their predecessors proffered in the past?......

Funny.... I've played a lot of poker. In my world, women are at least as fun as men are. They get to go out too!
My 1st wife was great until she decided to trade me for a newer model and try to keep Everything. My 2nd wife passed 3 years ago from breast cancer after 2 years together. I'd be very happy to be struck by lightning a 3rd time but don't think it will ever happen again. Not all women are evil. And I don't think it's wrong for a man to consult his wife about things that could affect them both. The big thing is to choose wisely when you choose.
I bet I couldnt count on one hand the number FR threads solely devoted to bashing men the way some do women. Thing that distinguishes FReeper women is they like men when they are Real Men, and not whiny babies who are unsettled when women dont act like their mommas. Some on here sound like they are still teenagers with coddling mothers...
I just get depressed. I’m single, never married and know a huge number of other good men who are in the same boat. It doesn’t help that many of the women around here ( Boston ) act as if you’ve personally insulted them and their family the moment they find out you’re a conservative. I know a few men who were ruined after divorce and are still paying alimony for a woman who has her boyfriend living with her.
Really, I’ve just about had it.
Women started the downward spiral by believing the sexual revolution lie that we could be just like men in the bedroom and we weren't really "liberated" unless we became like men and discarded our natural modesty and self-respect and had free and easy sex with whoever came down the pike.
Men naturally responded by taking full advantage of the new liberation, and over the years men have lost the respect for women they once had because women do not respect themselves and do not demand respect from men.
This has resulted in rage and resentment on the part of women because they are missing something in their relationships with men that they don't even know how to define, and it has resulted in resentment on the part of men because the liberation has, in large measure, done much to emasculate men. A large number of women now turn to the government as a husband replacement, the government goes after the men to replace the money it's doling out to the women, and the men are left paying for children that they either never wanted or do want and are forced by government fiat from being involved in those children's lives.
It's a horrible mess, and it started with women believing the lie that they were missing out on something grand and glorious, and if they just discarded any moral restraints they could have it all.
The problem could be fixed with a wholesale cultural revolution, but that will never happen.
It would seem that you find something effeminate about the ability to give an articulate, detailed, bill of grievences.
Of course, by that standard, our founding fathers would be a gaggle of pantywaists.

It will. After the next time that Western Civilization falls to the barbarians. After all, the "Christian Roman Empire" was still pretty decadent. For some reason it seems that in the west we need to be almost whipped before changing any of the problems.
I always help out Mrs. Chandler when she's trapped on the phone with a talker. My favorite rescue line is, "Honey, the dogs just chased a wolverine through the living room!" Now, how can the talker expect her to stay on the line when there are five large dogs and a dangerous wild animal tearing through the house?
True. And it doesn't hurt if she owns a nice motor boat.
A good wife doesn't have time to waste on recreational activities.
Especially when there are so many who don't think there are any problems and nothing that needs to be changed.
