Women started the downward spiral by believing the sexual revolution lie that we could be just like men in the bedroom and we weren't really "liberated" unless we became like men and discarded our natural modesty and self-respect and had free and easy sex with whoever came down the pike.
Men naturally responded by taking full advantage of the new liberation, and over the years men have lost the respect for women they once had because women do not respect themselves and do not demand respect from men.
This has resulted in rage and resentment on the part of women because they are missing something in their relationships with men that they don't even know how to define, and it has resulted in resentment on the part of men because the liberation has, in large measure, done much to emasculate men. A large number of women now turn to the government as a husband replacement, the government goes after the men to replace the money it's doling out to the women, and the men are left paying for children that they either never wanted or do want and are forced by government fiat from being involved in those children's lives.
It's a horrible mess, and it started with women believing the lie that they were missing out on something grand and glorious, and if they just discarded any moral restraints they could have it all.
The problem could be fixed with a wholesale cultural revolution, but that will never happen.
It will. After the next time that Western Civilization falls to the barbarians. After all, the "Christian Roman Empire" was still pretty decadent. For some reason it seems that in the west we need to be almost whipped before changing any of the problems.
