America feels Bill Clinton's pain.
On New Year's Day, when many sports fans plant themselves on the couch to watch a day of college football games, the former president was stumping through the snows of Iowa for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.
As Bill Clinton put it, "This morning, as I was walking out to come here, Hillary looked at me and said, 'Finally, after all these years I know you do love me.' And I said, 'You do?' She said, "Absolutely, you're missing six football games today."
Clinton laughed along with about 300 people at Ashford University, then added:
"I am the quintessential indolent American male on New Year's Day. I just sit around and watch the games, but this is more important."
The stop in Clinton was one of four scheduled for the former president, who is campaigning hard for his wife in the remaining days before Thursday's caucuses.
Has BC ever shown any past interest in football?
I don’t watch too many Youtube videos on my dialup here in the woods, unfortunately.
Hillary as a doormat! I like that photo; very telling.
A few years back, he showed a LOT of interest in a “Wide Receiver” by the name of Lewinsky.
Every minute of their lives seems to be something they just mentally compose--in real-time.
The story doesn't work, however: Even fiction has to have consistency.
Q: What does Bill say to Hillary after sex?
A: Honey, I'll be home in 20 minutes.
Oh, baby. Go nip... er I mean Go Noles!!!
I’ll get the popcaorn ready for that show. It should be great theater. The theater of the absurd.
During the Arkansas/Missouri game today, there was a commercial with that A$$hole in it. Didn’t hear it. Muted it. He was talking about the Piggies.
LOL
Makes my skin crawl; that one(Bill)does.
When will these people just GO AWAY?!!!
It does have that sitcom ring, doesn’t it. We FReepers may wince, but it probably struck a chord with at least half of the folks out there who were raised on that sort of pablum. What’s worse, they’re likely to carry that warm fuzzy feeling right into the voting booth next fall.
Yep...in the back of my mind I was thinking, Arkansas-Clinton...we need to clean their clocks. I am glad we beat them, but they can’t help it that the evils are from Arkansas.
However, it does have something I've never seen at any other institution of higher learning, namely, a trademarked name. It's not Ashford University, it's Ashford University®. And although it was founded way back in 1918, it has another up-to-the-minute trait, namely, a Mission Statement. I quote: "The mission of Ashford University® is to provide accessible, affordable, innovative, high-quality learning opportunities and degree programs that meet the diverse needs of individuals pursuing integrity in their lives, professions, and communities."
This grand pronouncement is supported by not one but half a dozen "Purpose Statements," the first of which is enough to tell you where it sits on the political axis: "To foster a vigorous, diverse learning environment shaped by contemporary awareness, intellectual inquiry, and a shared search for truth ... led by qualified faculty and staff who are guided by contemporary scholarship and professional practice."
Is this outfit legit, you may be asking. Well, Ashford is "regionally accredited" by The (yep, they initial-cap the "the") Higher Leaning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and is a member of something called the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (academic credit for "real-life experience," anyone?) -- whose logo, oddly enough, contains a graphic that looks a bit like a B-2 or an F-117:
And, best for last ... (gettin' hard to keep the finners on the keyboard here...) Ashford University® is located in ... Clinton, Iowa.
Being from Bama, I am of course an SEC fan, but when it comes to Arkansas, I’m sorry, I cannot root for them in anything. I just cannot get over that that state gave us the Klintons.
Watched briefly the other night a clip of him speaking to a group in Iowa...what a condescending, pompous, despicable windbag. He made me sick...listening to the disgusting way he talked down to those people, insulting their intelligence...like they were a bunch of stupid ignoramuses. He's simply disgusting, and I for one will be absolutely totally sick and demoralized should his "wife" win the nomination, yet alone the presidency. Sickening! Just sickening!
