Hillary: Pakistan troops might have killed Bhutto

CLINTON, Iowa - Hillary Rodham Clinton waded into Pakistan's volatile internal political situation Saturday, raising the possibility the country's military might have assassinated Benazir Bhutto because the killing took place in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Clinton's remarks came as Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's government seemed to reject a call for an independent international investigation of the murder that Clinton and John Edwards proposed on Friday.

During a question-and-answer session at an elementary school here, Clinton offered a detailed prescription for the troubled country, suggesting that the U.S divert aid away from its military to social welfare programs.

And for the second time in as many days, she cast doubt on Musharraf's contention that the suicide bombing that led to the death of the country's most popular opposition leader was masterminded by al-Qaida.

"There are those saying that al-Qaida did it. Others are saying it looked like it was an inside job -- remember Rawalpindi is a garrison city," she said.

Earlier in the day, the former first lady sat down with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos and said that, as president, it wouldn't be "appropriate" for her to include Bill Clinton in top-secret security discussions.

Yes, that is what I was implying.
And if she comes back tomorrow or another day and say " ohhh, I really didn't mean what I said " or " ohh it was just a joke " ... to late, the damage has been done.
This shows me that she can't be trusted with foreign affairs issues, that she is irresponsible, reckless, does not take seriously what she said ( because ? if she did take it seriously, she would have kept her mouth shut ).
Just like Huck's foot in the mouth statement today.
She is not fit to be President of the USA.

Gives more fodder for the fold and documented material to use for TV ads or radio ads for Fred in the fall if he gets the GOP nomination.

She is pouring gasoline into an already highly flammable situation.

God help us, if she becomes president.

Anythings possible, but Hillary...as a leader...you hold your tongue on things like that. I know as wacky as it sounds,...you might be the next president, hill...atleast have the sanity of knowing your words do have effects.

“No. She’s being clever....and trying to undermine Musharraff and cause further chaos in Pakistan. The Democrat strategy in Pakistan now is to turn it over to terrorist militants similar to what was done in Iran during Carter.”

You might be right — then she would blame it all on President Bush.

The Democrats are a real danger to our national security — and the world’s.

She is not fit to be President of the USA.

Nor her Democrat compadres (Some repubs too, ugh).

Gasoline on this fire could burn the whole region. India as well as Israel I'm sure have teams ready, for that matter so should we in the case of a coup. It's going to be a race to the nuclear controls, kinda like the Gumball rally with automatic weapons.

"before you have any access to Intelligence Briefs. "

As a member of the Senate's Armed Forces Committee, she probably sees SOME, likely not all Intelligence Briefs. Besides, knowing how secure that place is, she probably sees much more than she is cleared for.

With the PPP now leaderless, by adding fuel to the fire around Musharraf she helps Nawaz Sharif of the other major party, the Muslim League.

This is the guy who met with bin Laden, conducted the Pak nuke tests, and formalized sharia law within Pakistan.

Uh, that is her message: 'The Bush-backed Pakistani govt and military killed Bhutto.'

There is no doubt that is the Dem talking point, but your "quote" is not in the article. Worry not, she'll be saying it soon enough.

This is getting dangerous as the Cuban missile crises.
And Hillary just up the ante of the stakes and risk.
I am sure the DU and Libs are just mindlessly cheering her on with this, either without giving it much thought, or knowingly full well what she did.
Hillary Clinton is not fit to be President of the USA.
She should be censured by Congress for putting the USA in harms way by her statements.

Obama has called for violating Pakistani sovereinty and invading the border region with Afghanistan, so both Democrat frontrunners are completely clueless about this situation, which may become the next administration's most pressing issue.

Let me guess, Hillary. Was she killed because she was a strong woman?

This is the sort of irresponsible blather that sparks riots in Pakistan.

Riots are nothing, riots are the best case outcome. She may have alienated far more powerful forces. For example, imagine this scenario:

(A meeting of several high placed generals, deep inside ISI headquarters)

Chairman: "Your word, General Ali, concludes this emergency council."

Ali: "I think we have no better choice."

Chairman: "It has been decided, then." and heavily crosses something on the sheet of paper in front of him. CIA still does not know what that was, and will not know it until the decision is implemented. It will be too late.

Scary it is that all candidates now must behave presidentially for the good of the nation. Stupid off the cuff remarks just aren't acceptable in foreign relations, and all candidates' voice is very well heard in all countries. I can safely guess that many of those foreign heavyweights are smarter than an average candidate here; when they hear something they remember it. Unfortunately many of today's candidates spew words that they do not understand, since local voters have no memory, as it seems.

Others are saying it looked like it was an inside job -- remember Rawalpindi is a garrison city," she said.

Wow. Honestly, this is a shocking statement. This is the sort of thing that responsible statesmen say *behind closed doors* and to the right parties. Not out where it can just fuel the riots.

I can't see how this furthers Hillary's agenda. It appears that she's just stupid.

Hildebeast is one ignorant, stupid, irrational, out of control moron.

If brains were gas, Hildebeast wouldn't have enough to power an ant go-cart around the inside of a Cheerio.

Making unsubstantiated claims on an assassination of a foreign leader, in an unstable region that could spiral out of control with the slightest perturbations is reckless to say the least.

Hildebeast is a threat to more than this nation's welfare and security; she's a threat to any level of international stability.

Hildebeast needs to be stopped. Fast.

A search of Google News shows the Newsday story as the only report carrying the quote, “Others are saying it looked like it was an inside job — remember Rawalpindi is a garrison city.” I sure hope her remarks get the attention they deserve and aren’t just conveniently ignored.

Her statements are very irresponsible and reckless.

Yes, like the very foolish statement her husband made when he was running for president.........when he told the Haitians to come on over to America.......no telling how many died from drowning after that utterly stupid statement.......

And, no telling how many Pakistanis will die rioting against their military after Hillary's utterly stupid statement.......
