ModernConservative.com has received a tip from a reliable source that may have election-shattering implications.

According to our source, an activist here in Arizona has been approached by the Ron Paul campaign; the campaign has requested that he run the Arizona effort to get Ron Paul on the general election ballot as a candidate of the Constitution Party.

Our source has requested anonymity, and we have agreed. We can, however, vouch for his/her general reliability. Our source also provided us with details that added credibility to the account. (Unfortunately, disclosure of those details would put at risk our promise of anonymity. We apologize for the unnamed sourcing and lack of further details, but those were the requirements that accompanied this revelation.)

We will keep you apprised of any new developments.

There has been a lot of analysis on the impact that Ron Paul has already had, and on the impact that he might...

If he runs, Hillary or Obama will be the next president.

This is not good. He will siphon off enough votes to help the Dems win, just as the Green Party ultimately helped Bush win in 2000.

That is frightening. I had no idea; but it doesn’t surprise me. It does scare the hell out of me.

jmc813: As a matter of fact, I did not wish Paul dead but wished him permanent space travel far, far from us. Impointed that out to you when you baselessly complained but, choosing to ignore my response, you did not ping me. WHY, am I not surprised???? BTW, nothing is as ****'d up as supporting paleoPaulie as though he were a patriot, an American at heart, a conservative, or anything else that he poses as. JimRob was right (as almost ever or ever) on 9/30/07 in his reference to Paul and his spam monkeys. Justified editorial criticism of Dr. Demento is not hatred of Dr. Demento. He worked hard to earn that criticism. He deserves it. He will get it until, in about a year, no one will remember the name of the kook former Congresscritter of suburban Galveston.

Mr. Silverback: Hello, neighbor! The Paulistinian Disinformation Express continues down the same old track.

Yeah, well, except for the widely reported fact that Dr. Paul promised his wife he would only run as a Republican, it’s news, sort of, I guess.

A RuPaul banner? I would love a picture of that. I think drag queens are funny.

BTW, what’s RuPaul running for? This is the first time I’ve heard of a sign supporting his candidacy for something.

Sore loser laws probably only apply to state and local offices.

My limited understanding of the law is that states can not add extra qualifications on top of those already in the Constitution when it comes to federal office and electors.

GITP: Ummmm, Perot and his wife were up to their Adam’s Appes in Planned Barrenhood. That would certainly put the little kook on the left.

“”Only four states maintain that their “sore loser” laws apply to president: South Dakota, Mississippi, Ohio and Texas. After LaRouche won in court against Ohio in 1992, Ohio amended its “sore loser” law in 1993 to specifically apply to presidential candidates. No precedents have been set in Mississippi or South Dakota. In Texas, unfortunately, in 1996 the Constitution Party filed a lawsuit against Texas to get a ruling that the “sore loser” law doesn’t apply to president. The federal judge who got the case, James Nowlin, refused to enjoin Texas’ interpretation that the “sore loser” law does apply to president. The denial of injunctive relief is reported as US Taxpayers Party v Garza, 924 F Supp 71 (1996).””

http://www.ballot-access.org/2007/01/12/sore-loser-laws-dont-generally-apply-to-presidential-candidates/

Note, no idea how accurate it is. I am still researching it.

You may be right. On second thought, we vote for electors not presidential candidates and the electors are not involved in primaries and, if they were, substitute electors could be chosen for the general election. Good catch!

It’ll hurt PIAPS much more than the Republicans...most that would vote for her are moonbats...they like Paul...so this third party run will do much more harm to her. HA HA HA this election the tables will be turned.

This is great! The only people who would vote for RP are the extreme far left anti-Americans who will only vote for the most anti-American running. If cut and run does not run third party, it will force them to vote democrat.

Good catch!

Thanks. Now that I have been made aware Ohio may have such a dubious statute on our books, I'll need to contact my state rep.

It wasn't you I was referring to. Apologies if I implied otherwise. There are freepers out there who believe that Paul really is guilty of treason and should be punished accordingly.

If he runs, Hillary or Obama will be the next president.

I've gotta disagree with you here. As Antoninus pointed out, most Paul supporters who typically vote Republican will be fine with voting for Fred Thompson, for instance, due to his emphasis on federalism. It's just that if someone like Rudy is the nominee, all bets are off.

I respectfully disagree. On talk radio, I’ve heard leftist callers say they could support Ron Paul. They were lying. They were just expressing anger with Bush and talking up Paul because he would be a surrender monkey. On election day, they will come home to the Dems. The leftists would never support someone who wants to cut the size and scope of government.

Got a cite for that which doesn't come from a freak-left website? For example, Indymedia claims 130 of these camps have been built adjacent to "major highways and railroad transport facilities" but I have to wonder how you do that without anyone noticing.

They're disguised as shopping centers. That Cheney guy is tricky. :>)
