Ramos, Compean pardons? 'No,' 'No,' says Bush rep
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | December 22, 2007

The White House apparently is so reluctant to discuss the issue of pardons or commutations for convicted U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean that a spokesman doesn't even want to allow questions about the issue to be finished.

The circumstances arose during a White House press gaggle with spokesman Tony Fratto, when Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, tried to raise the issue of the disparity in the treatment of the Border Patrol agents, compared to that given Scooter Libby, an aide to Vice President Dick Cheney who was convicted of lying during an investigation into the outing of the identity of a covert U.S. agent.

The agents were convicted and given prison sentences of 11 and 12 years for shooting after a self-confessed drug smuggler fleeing back into Mexico after leaving 750 pounds of marijuana in Texas, while Libby was excused from serving any of his prison sentence through President Bush's intervention.

The White House repeatedly has said there is a pardons request procedure available to the agents, even though Libby apparently did not go through the same process before Bush acted.

"A number of times here, when questions were raised about former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean, we were told that there is a process for pardon. And I have a three-part question on this…" Kinsolving began.

"You have to make it quick, because they're calling for me," Fratto said.

"I will. Could you explain to us why the president refuses to commute these men who shot an escaping Mexican drug smuggler…" Kinsolving continued.

"No," interrupted Fratto.

"…as the president commuted the prison sentence of his friend, Scooter Libby," Kinsolving asked.

"No," Fratto responded.

Remember way back, even before Bush(43) announced his candidacy. There was a lot of speculation, and initially it sounded as if he was going to decline to run, something about youthful indiscretions. Everyone assumed after the “drunk driving” liberal smear just before the election, that was the problem.

Perhaps that wasn’t what the concern was. Perhaps the young Bush, during his wild yute, did some embarrassing things down Mexico way, and now is completely, quite literally pwn3d by ... Mexico.

It would certainly explain a lot of things.

The more Bush mistreats those two Border Agents like this, the more I become convinced it has to be something along those lines.

There’s no other rational explanation.

I wish I didn’t believe that. I wish Bush would do something - especially a pardon for Christmas of those two agents; and some other significant sign we’re not being sold down the river by our own president.

It’s like in the old book by James Clavelle “Noble House”. The fictional Struan House, is a Scottish trading company in Hong Kong. Along the way, the Chinese “comprador” of the company bails out the western owner, and a deal is made.

The deal involves two halves of a necklace — as years go by the deal slowly becomes history. But secretly, each head of Struan House, when being inducted into that powerful position, is shown and must sign an unconditional agreement that at any time, anyone who presents to them the other half of the token, must be granted whatsoever it is, they ask for.

Years. Generations go by. Before the “favor” is asked.

Bush acts like that, about Mexico. He really does.

It’s frustrating, and humiliating.

He’s supposed to be on OUR SIDE.

This is insane. President Bush will not tell us anything and he professes to keep America and it’s people safe.

Right; allowing illegals to swarm into our country; hurt us and bleed us dry is really protecting us. Not

It’s bordering to the point of cruelty.

I would much rather have these two CLEARED than PArdoned.....and it is working it’s way thru the system, the noose is tightening around Johnny Sutton and that would NOT happen if they were PARDONED.

this is the Bush I voted for and was always so proud of who promised to make sure the bad guys were not going to get into America and do it to us again.

Unfortunately this is the Bush who is protecting our borders right now, and he does not even care that 80-90% of the people who voted for him are repulsed by his shameless Mexico before America stance.

Really?? I haven't heard much about that.... that would be GREAT news!

I would, at least, like to hear some reasoning from Jorge as to why these guys are still in prison. It's sickening... IMHO, they deserved to be punished... maybe, even suspended. But, what's happening is simply insane.

1992 “Perot can’t win” —> National Debt Increases + Border Wide Open
1996 “Keyes can’t win” —> National Debt Increases + Border Wide Open
2000 “Bauer can’t win” —> National Debt Increases + Border Wide Open
2004 “[Insert Name] can’t win” —> National Debt Increases + Border Wide Open
2008 “Keyes can’t win” —> National Debt Increases + Border Wide Open

So, we just keep declaring as viable, and voting for people who spent their entire lives chasing after money (what Jesus said directly competes with affection for a holy God), instead of getting behind a straight talking patriot like Hunter.

Recipie for someone who will sell you out:

1) chases after money and helps nobody but themselves, so you become very wealthy, and conservatives get behind you, and think you are “a contender”, and conservatives also brush off those who are not rich. OR sell-out for money to special interests who will run down the country to get rich, so now with money, you “can win”.
2) since you have no morals, (after all, you chased after money to the exclusion of everything else), you never feel or speak with any passion about the evil in the world, so you never say anything the least bit offensive, so nobody can ever say, “wow, he’s really out there! I can’t get behind him!”

The only way to be “viable”, is to be evil, or sell-out.

Bush, Clinton, Bush, all sold us out, and every alternative was declared a loser from launch, because our expectations are in the gutter.

If this negativism keeps up, our next president will run up the national debt, and leave the borders open, abandon the unborn, and act as if the ACLU are harmless hacks.

All of you are better than this. You’ve simply forgotten that settling for sellouts who can “win”, actually causes you to literally lose.

Many in California voted for Arnold because unlike the real conservative Tom McClintock, “he could win”. But did the voters really win since Arnold eventually revealed himself as the liberal *we* *knew* *he* *was* during the recall election?

Hopefully, your expectations will be higher this time, than voting for a “front-runner” who can “win”, but will just sell us out.

You’re better than that. That’s why you are here on FR and not at DU. You either know that values come from our Creator, or you know that society is toast without them.

See my tagline for the short version.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

Add to the unholy mix Bush’s refusal to protect our troops from Iran, and his calling his supporters “bigots” for not accepting his Amnesty horsecrap. Bush is evil, and I hope karma chomps him in the nuts.

ALL LEO’s cringe because in its precedence, if they use their service weapon during the attempted apprehension of someone, they subject themselves to litigation and possible prison - right or wrong.

Az, of course you are correct in that. It's just that as unjustly treated as they were, Ramos and Compean were not correct in their behavior that led up to this. It's what makes this whole mess so bad. They are very miscast as heroes in the play.

The fact that Sutton also wasn't correct in his behavior doesn't help. The original sin here is the porous "border," a wild and increasingly lawless Zona de Tolerancia with corupt officialdom on both sides of the line. SOP for a Latin American country, but a gddm disgrace to any American.

GW isn't the first President to turn a blind eye to this hundred-mile wide strip of hell, but he sure as hell is the worst in doing anything about it.

Democrats won’t change this law because it keeps LEO’s in jail. Democrats DETEST law enforcement of any kind.
