Mike Huckabee said Friday that he does not remember if he even wrote the line in a controversial journal article calling President Bushs foreign policy arrogant bunker mentality, after the article drew criticism from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The Republican presidential candidates piece in the January-February edition of Foreign Affairs said that Bushs foreign policy is counterproductive, and urged a shift in diplomatic tone. GOP rival Mitt Romney afterward condemned the comments and Rice called them simply ludicrous on Friday.
But Huckabee told reporters aboard a bus in Iowa that he was not the sole author of that piece.
I wrote most of the article, but I had help There was probably eight or 10 people involved, he said, explaining that it went through several re-writes.
Even if Huckabee didnt write the bunker mentality line, hes still espoused that criticism before.
The former Arkansas governor said at a Center for Strategic and International Studies event in September that the administrations bunker mentality has been counterproductive, both at home and abroad. Theyve done a poor job of communicating and consulting with other countries, just as they have, frankly, with the American people.

Great link!
Those who wonder why Huckabee is hated by many Freepers should view that link. He is just so dishonest, so Clintonesque, that it is almost physically painful to watch!
There are two serious candidates on the Republican side that create a visceral anger in me - McCain (because he is psycho) and Huckabee (because he is a lying idiot).
Heh heh, true...
What vote for Hillary by proxy when you can get the real thing...
Not an excuse. An executive is responsible for evaluating and selecting the people who work for him. Those executives who are successful know how to pick good people who will carry out their policies. Either the people who wrote this article are in tune with Huckabee's ideas or, if they are not, Huckabee had no business selecting them.
(This is disregarding the fact that Huckabee voiced the same opinion as in the article in a previous speech; or that he should have, and probably did, read and sign off on the article before it was published.)
HEEHAW, HEEHAW
(chorus) jello, jello, jello!
Looks like Fred is still the man.
Now we truly see why the liberal media is pushing Mike Huckabee on the GOP. They think he’ll be easy for Hillary Clinton to beat, and they are probably right.
What time do the blimps go up?
Makes Billy Carter look absolutely Continental.
Maybe this is why he doesn't want his sermons out --- he doesn't have a clue what's in them either!
But he stayed at the Holiday Inn Express!
You mean “I have no independent recollection of that.” Meaning, if you have proof that I said or did something else, I may have to tell the truth.
I wish Rush or anyone would ask upchuckabee why he had his staff wipe and destroy all the computer hard drives in the governors office before he left in January 2007. What was on the computers that he didn’t ever want made public?
What’s he covering up? Maybe Larry Flynt knows. Or Hillary.
Let’s hope that Huck is now history.
“There were 8-10 other people in his head.”
Hopefully he is hearing the same voices in his head as Dean.
So a Huckabee presidency is going to have a ghost-written foreign policy?
ROLLINS: I don't think they know anything. I think they've been in the bunker for so long that they've lost their edge, and they were pretty good operatives a year or two ago. But they've lost their edge.
