DES MOINES Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson earned the endorsement of Iowa conservative Bill Salier today.
Salier, a farmer from Nora Springs who ran for the U.S. Senate in 2002, had been serving as the state chairman for Tom Tancredos campaign. Tancredo dropped out of the presidential race Thursday.
I am honored to endorse Sen. Fred Thompson for president, Salier said in a statement. Sen. Thompson has been a consistently strong advocate in securing our borders and enforcing the rule of law. He has the leadership and experience we need guiding this nation and serving the people of Iowa. Thompson earned the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, earlier this week. He said he was pleased to earn Saliers backing.

Christmas...
Can anyone explain to me why there is a massive MAJORITY for Fred on EVERY SINGLE POLL taken here on FR and we’ve got all these folks shilling for Rudy and the likes of him?
What the hell is this telling me? 3k people are voting in these things and FRED is winning HANDS DOWN????? Why is there an issue with supporting Fred?
If that's true, this was awfully sh!tty on Tancredo's part. That endorsement might have given Hunter enough of a bump to put him on the map.
That one's easy - his campaing manager wasn't having his campaign debts paid off by the Romney campaign?
/only spec'latin'
WOW, now that is funny!!!
I have never heard it implied that Fred is asleep or old or anything...
YOU ARE AN ORIGINAL!!!
Campaign CHAIRMAN for Iowa, not campaign manager. It’s a big deal.
Tancredo decamped, therefore, there can’t be a split in something that no longer exists.
Add to that there are some shills for the other guys here, people who just love to pitch sh*t, plus folks who would not know a conservative if it bit ‘em in the a$$, well you get the idea...
“Well, well. That is news. It appears there is a split in the Tancredo camp as well. It is still strange that Tancredo endorsed Romney over Hunter.”
I also was very surprised that Tancredo would endorse Romney over either Hunter or Thompson. Maybe Tancredo did it to hope to boost Romney over Huckabee. Just strange.
I think it's called the "democratic process." I'm for Fred, but the back-and-forth with those who favor other candidates is interesting. Well, except for the Paulistas; they tend to be rude.
Yes, indeed. I feel that there is so much darn momentum in campaigns. Fred is the correct choice, but until SOMEONE has the b*lls of Fred and goes out on that endorsement limb, we wait in MSM obscurity. NRA — radio hosts — somebody, stop us or we will have Romney up against Hillary, and I am afraid she may chew him up and spit him out!
Obviously, the majority of FR members are more conservative than the bulk of the GOP voting pool. Otherwise, Fred and Hunter would be at the top of the polls nationally.
FR members, in general, tend to be more conservative than GOP voters nationwide. So FR’s candidate of choice for President does not coincide with the national picture.d
perhaps the PUBLIC endorsement is the political payoff. The staff endorsement is the reality of personal opinion.
mitt paid off tanks campaign debt.
LLS
For those who know Salier, this is a quality endorsement.
So, Tancredo’s chair endorses Fred. :)
This and Steve King’s endorsement should sway more than a few minds.
Bill Salier on Mickelson’s radio show right now telling why he is supporting Thompson.
Given the fluidity of the polls anyone of the top five could emerge on top.
