His attorneys first applied for a commutation in 2004, and have regularly beseeched the government since then to shorten Lindh's sentence.
"We hope that President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will find it in their hearts to grant mercy this holiday season," Lindh's mother, Marilyn Lindh, said today.

Can we commute it to the death penalty? If not, then, no.

"We hope that President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will find it in their hearts to grant mercy this holiday season," Lindh's mother, Marilyn Lindh, said today. Ask that of Mike Spann's survivors, Mrs. Lindh. May John Lindh rot in prison!
