He didn’t come across well on Fox News this morning. Pity it was noted lightweight Steve Docey interviewing him. I can only take so much smarmy bs in the morning, and Docey offers it up by the boatload.

Mr Happy? Nope, Mr Smarmy.

The Texas Congressman added, "I would like to see all governments out of the marriage question. I don't think it is a state function; it is a religious function.

I think this is where he is really missing the boat on the issue. He, for some reason, doesn't realize how many legal issues are related to marriage, from taxes to survivor benefits, to medical issues.

Seems as though the more money he raises the more odd his behavior becomes.

It's because most of his money is coming from moonbats. Look at the MoveOn effect vis a vis the Democrats.

LOL. I realize reading may beyond some but he was quoting Sinclair Lewis. It was a general statement but history has proven that also to be the case before.

So you agree with the premise that 'Christians and Patriots cause Fascism'?

Drudge has some text on the “fascism in a cross” comment, but no link

Hunter would be my first choice, also, but I don’t think he has a chance. Fred will do. I think he’d be a good president.

While I’m offended by some of Huckleberry’s positions, he sure as hell ain’t as bad as Pallbearer.

Yep, From Drudge-

Ron Paul: 'When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross'..

Worth a tag line to expose the nut...

Yes, it is funny that the Libertarian sees no connection between marriage and child-bearing. He allows a kind of social anarchy since custom cannot regulate this matter anymore.

There are two fatal flaws of libertarianism. The first is that it is a system of ethics designed for consenting adults, not for children who are unable to withhold consent. I can hear the outraged howls of libertarians now, “criminalizing abortion is the first step to the gulags!” The truth is precisely the opposite, my friends. A low value placed on human life is the first step to oppression.

The second fatal flaw of libertarianism is that it is the only ethical system to have a more hopelessly naive and benign view of human nature than liberalism. It assumes that adults are intrinsically driven to thrive - provided that there are no distorted incentives.

A transcript will be out, they're excited about it at some of his sites.

Christians suck, you know that, so do patriots.

Go Ron Go!

Naah, it's not a cult.

I'll take the liberty of posting a Lew Rockwell link to the comment, despite the site being banned. LR isn't a hate site and sometimes sites banned on FR are the only places you can find out what Ron said. Not an easy one to spin, but the paulies will be up to it.

Ron Paul quotes Sinclair Lewis on Faux News

“Ron Paul: ‘When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross’.. “

This far different from saying Patriotism and the Cross cause fascism.

I think society must be careful not to mix the two too much.

I haven’t been to any KKK rallys but those depicted always have flags and either a cross or at least religious overtones. I think these KKK and neo-nazis are facists.

Look at your Islamofacists. They are using religion to spread fascist idealogy.

Ron Paul is not well spoken, especially early in the morning (which is apparent), and when he is cut off to go to a commercial break and can’t explain himself.

Sometimes I wonder why he opens his mouth.

No but I believe there are those that would call themselves Christian and nationalists using the drapery of patriotism that can bring a form of fascism to this nation. Too many are willing to hand over freedom already because that's what's needed to ensure our 'safety' and because party leadership suggested that would be the 'right' course of action. It is one thing to be a Christian and a patriot. It is an entirely different matter to be a 'Christian' and a 'patriot'. Neither Lewis nor Dr. Paul were insinuating otherwise. But you knew that already didn't you...

I doubt if anyone will ever accuse Ron Paul of being a patriot.

Apparently we all died out before we started creating governments.

>>>How would he handle these matters if marriage ceased to exist as a civil contract?

In Loco Parentis.

Which is what Healthy People 2010 will do.

Healthy Schools and In Loco Parentis

And there are candidates running that are on and promote that program.
