Larry Bourbonnais, who was slightly wounded during last week's shootings at New Life Church, was ejected Sunday from the same church for alleged aggressive behavior.
"I took a bullet for members of this church," he was heard to shout as he was hustled out of the Colorado Springs worship complex by security guards.
The Rev. Brady Boyd said the church has petitioned for a restraining order against Bourbonnais, who tried to stop Matthew Murray's killing spree.

don’t forget future shootings...
I won’t argue with first hand observations!
Some churches are so legalistic they cut off their nose to spite their face. I was hoping this wasn’t the case here.
I think Assam is the real deal, an incredible lady. When she feels free to talk, we’ll get the whole story.
Christians believe that Christ is the head of the church, that the Church is the Bride of Christ. That’s why I said that this church, full of sinners in need of a savior, belongs to the Lord.
It’s not just semantics.
“I believe you are correct. From the accounts I’ve read he was bounding around like a loose cannon, interfering with the guards who were trying to respond. We’re lucky he didn’t get himself or someone else shot.
I’ve met this guy. He’s a nut.”
That was my take on it too. Thank God Jeanne Assam had cooly moved into position to take action when it was warranted. Her actions are a stark contrast to Larry’s emotional outburst that almost got him killed.
The same leadership is currently in place as was when Ted Haggard was pastor. The church was lost under Ted Haggard.
Perhaps it still is lost.
Did you see the press conference? I am in awe of Jeanne Assam.
Should read,
Surprise, So, a large church has some all sinners in it.
We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of the Lord.
That church sure has had it's share of trouble, all right.
How do you know that? Cheez.
You don’t really know that. So much judgement...
He drew the attacker's attn after he walked in the door. How is that "bounding around like a loose cannon"? He also noted the "guard" had a gun, but was doing nothing with it. How is offering to do something with it "interfering"?
Well, I’d advise you to pray for him. We need to be praying for all pastors. Running a church is a tireless and endless job, thankless as well.
Have you considered the possibility that Larry isn't being truthful but is embellishing to make himself look like the hero or that the guard was holding fire because Larry was moving unpredictably?
I hope no one would take away from this story that what Larry did is the way to handle an armed intruder in an active shooting situation. That could get people killed.
I love the saying that one of my friends quoted: “Some churches are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”
He needs to pray about the church leadership that supported Ted Haggard. Fresh leadership could bring a view of the past as well as the future. You are right.
I am in awe of her too. A great lady.
I read somewhere that his mother held Ted Haggard
in very high esteem before Ted's fall from grace.
Ridiculous. There's no legitimate reason not to say anything, unless they're waiting to get their stories straight.
"Have you considered the possibility that Larry isn't being truthful but is embellishing to make himself look like the hero or that the guard was holding fire because Larry was moving unpredictably?"
Moving unpredictably? Look like a hero? Get serious. The perp was already in the door and the guard near him was doing nothing. The lobby was already cleared, so there was no one behind the shooter. Bourbonnais mounted a distractive manuever which drew both attn and fire to himself, so others, including Assam, could take shots at him.
"I hope no one would take away from this story that what Larry did is the way to handle an armed intruder in an active shooting situation. That could get people killed."
BS.
A good friend of mine attends NLC.I have met Ted Haggard on more than one occasion.
My discernment was that Ted was a very smooth throughly self absorbed Huckster.
