OCALA, Fla. -- A 10-year old Ocala girl brought her lunch to school and a small kitchen knife to cut it. She now faces a felony charge after being arrested. The school and the sheriff's office disagree on the reason for the arrest.
School officials say the 5th grader was brown-bagging it. She brought a piece of steak for her lunch, but she also brought a steak knife. That's when deputies were called.
It happened in the cafeteria at Sunrise Elementary School. The 10-year-old used the knife to cut the meat.

Zero tolerance just means lazy. They are un-willing to use the brain God gave them.

I bet the kid has a higher I.Q. than the teachers.

Hey teacher, please say “fewer people” in your tag line rather then “less people”. Its a good point otherwise.

When I went to school, there was one kind of weapon that was used to inflict more physical damage on students, than all others put together, the hands of bullies.
Almost any tool can be used as a weapon. The thing that makes it a weapon, is the person using it. Unfortunately, school administrators are completely incompetent when it comes to identifying real weapons at school.

At a high School in Montana a group of high schoolers played a prank on the school. They let three goats loose in the school. Before they let them go they painted numbers on the sides of the goats: 1,2,4.
Local school administrators spent most of The day looking for #3.

I don't know if that would help you. After all, it was a jury that actually indicted the Duke Lacrosse players.Grand jury. As the old saying goes, a prosecutor can cause a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.

"School officials say the 5th grader was brown-bagging it. She brought a piece of steak for her lunch, but she also brought a steak knife. That's when deputies were called." Unbelievable.
"It happened in the cafeteria at Sunrise Elementary School. The 10-year-old used the knife to cut the meat."
In a cafeteria, too?
Just imagine if the brainstems running the *school* found an aspirin in the kid's lunch box along with the steal knife, also.
Forget mere expulsion.
...we're talking death penalty.

Grand jury. As the old saying goes, a prosecutor can cause a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.
I would suggest that that same prosecutor could get a trial jury to convict the same said ham sandwich. In the Duke case in particular, if those boys hadn't had wealthy parents, they'd all be sitting in a state prison as we speak.

This little girl is being abused by Political Correctness which replaced Common Sense in this country some 50 years ago. This sad story is right up there with Second Hand Smoke and the recent and rude Fart Ad......time to tell the PC crowd to P*** Off - get a life and leave the rest of us alone.
