Is Real Threat Al-Qaida Or Congress?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | December 14, 2007 | Editorial

National Security: After getting little done all year because it was too busy playing politics, Congress' year-end priority is to make fighting the global war on terror as difficult as possible. A jihadist couldn't ask for more.

President Bush promises to veto legislation not containing immunity from lawsuits for telecom firms who cooperate with the U.S. government in terrorist surveillance. Apparently spoiling for a fight, the House passed a bill without such immunity. It also legislated to prohibit the CIA from using waterboarding and other tough interrogation methods on suspected terrorists.

Democrats also want to block 70% percent of the intelligence budget from being spent until the House and Senate intelligence committees get briefed on Israel's September airstrike on an apparent nuclear facility in Syria. And they continue to try to tie war funding to a withdrawal of our forces in Iraq.

The pattern is clear: Over and over again, the ever-more disloyal opposition places obstacles in the way of our fighting al-Qaida and other terrorist enemies.

There’s absolutely no doubt about it.

If there were a way for a President to simply dismiss Congress, this is the Congress that should have it’s collective ass kicked all the way back home.

It does nothing for the people, and in fact runs interference against the effort to protect those people.

"I made a mistake. I predicted we would stop the war. We thought President Bush and the Republicans would be more compromising on the war."

So what she calls "compromise" is to declare defeat and withdraw!!!! How is that a "compromise??

But that, in fact, is what dems always mean by compromise...you are to do it their way.

I hope I am not breaking any rules here but this excerpt from the article says it better than anything:

“Whether it’s guns or surveillance or interrogation, Congress this year has shown us all that it would take away the tools necessary to protect Americans — if only it had a president who would sign on.”

This phrase should be used by every pro-troop, pro-American running for office!

Real Threat Al-Qaida Or [Democrats in] Congress?

They both have the same goal -- a defeat for the U.S. not only in Iraq, but in the wider WOT. Of course congressional Democrats are too blinded by Bush hatred to comphrehend the full implications of such a loss and what it would mean for them personally.

I'm guessing they read FR:

Who needs Al Qaeda when we have the United States Senate.

Congress’ BDS is more important than Nat’l Security or any accidental appearance of sanity!

This pattern played out once before (Vietnam), but the media only covered the communist viewpoint....today you can see BOTH the communist viewpoint (media, hollywood, academe,CPUSA/VVAW/IVAW/WWP et al) and the sane viewpoint(internet blogs, conservative radio, etc).
If the country is still sane, the sane will be able to survive congress (the enemy within).

In the mind of Boxer and others like her, “compromise” is the way life works. They don’t understand that war is all or nothing. Lives are on the line, and she’s willing to sacrifice them for political expediency.

Folks, it is all about politicians (on both sides - although I think the dems are far worse), putting their partisan agenda ahead of the national interests. Dems got elected by promsising to end a war we “couldn’t win.” Well, with the “surge” actually showing some progress, it hurts them. So, they must derail it or lose ground.

I’m republican, but I won’t excuse our guys doing the same thing from time to time.

“The Democratic leadership of Congress are traitors.”

Yep. Party before country, before the troops on the battlefield even. Utterly repulsive. Never forget.

But Democrats are not the main problem, it’s getting our more of our fellow Americans to understand these things before they vote.

9-11 woke some people up. But many fell right back to sleep again.

This is a trick question, since, the Bolshecrat congress is in consort with al-Qaeda to secure an American defeat.
