Children? Not If You Love The Planet (Mark Steyn Looks At Enviro Wackoism Gone Wild Alert)
Orange County Register ^ | 12/15/2007 | Mark Steyn

As I say, the above demographic audit has become something of an annual tradition in this space. But here's something new that took hold in the year 2007: A radical antihumanism, long present just below the surface, bobbed up and became explicit and respectable. In Britain, the Optimum Population Trust said that "the biggest cause of climate change is climate changers – in other words, human beings," and professor John Guillebaud called on Britons to voluntarily reduce the number of children they have.

"Every person who is born," says Toni Vernelli, "produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases and adds to the problem of overpopulation." We are the pollution, and sterilization is the solution. The best way to bequeath a more sustainable environment to our children is not to have any.

What's the "pro-choice" line? "Every child should be wanted"? Not anymore. The progressive position has subtly evolved: Every child should be unwanted.

By the way, if you're looking for some last-minute stocking stuffers, Oxford University Press has published a book by professor David Benatar of the University of Cape Town called "Better Never to Have Been: The Harm of Coming into Existence." The author "argues for the 'anti-natal' view – that it is always wrong to have children … . Anti-natalism also implies that it would be better if humanity became extinct." As does Alan Weisman's "The World Without Us" – which Publishers Weekly hails as "an enthralling tour of the world … anticipating, often poetically, what a planet without us would be like." It's a good thing it "anticipates" it poetically, because, once it happens, there will be no more poetry.

Today's Left has adopted a trendy ant-natalist position: children are bad for the planet's future. The Global Warming Cult's logical position is that a planet without humanity is better than a planet filled the sound of laughing children. Enviro Wackoism, taken to its logical conclusion, is about the destruction of civilization. The GW Cult is dangerous for people, for children and for the planet.

Its scary. A planet without a single human being on it flies in the face of the Divine Message: "be fruitful and multiply." These people hate God as much as they hate His Handmaiden, Man.

Its ironic those who care for the children don't have any themselves. That's the Left's post modern anti-humanism in a nutshell. Its Zero Population Growth writ large and is inspiration is neo sanger on the one hand: let's abort mankind! and neo luddite on the other hand: let's abort civilization! These people are nuts and would unimportant accept they occupy places of considerable influence upon our planet to spread their maleficent philosophy. We must all oppose it for the sake of the human future.

So in post-Catholic Italy there is no miracle of a child this Christmas – unless you count the 70 percent of Italians between the ages of 20 and 30 who still live at home, the world's oldest teenagers still trudging up the stairs to the room they slept in as a child even as they approach their fourth decade. That's worth bearing in mind if you're an American gal heading to Rome on vacation: When that cool 29-year-old with the Mediterranean charm in the singles bar asks you back to his pad for a nightcap, it'll be his mom and dad's place.

Eternal teenagers - creepy. Really creepy.

A planet without any adults on it either. The adults are too busy tearing down our civilization to notice in most Western countries there are more children born named Mohammed than John. Ponder on that for a minute. If that doesn't scare the living daylights out of you, nothing will. For as Mark Steyn has written elsewhere, demography is destiny.

Today's Left has adopted a trendy ant-natalist position: children are bad for the planet's future.

Great, the left can continue with this, their dieology in this regard, and folks like me will continue with ours. I have five kids. Two are married and have already produced 6 grandkids. I expect to have a good 20 or so grandkids before it is done.

At those rates, with the left having very few or none, and folks like me producing hundreds of great and great-great grankids...and teaching them conservative principles and to raise thier own properly as God-fearing all-American individuals...in another 2-3 generations...there will be no-left of any consequence.

Of course, they will not leave it at that...they will try to force me to adopt their principles and that will be the rub. They will seek, while they can, to gain the reigns of power and then use it like the tyrants they are to enforce their anti-American, anti-liberty views on the rest of us. Therefore the need to continue to not only beat them in the family-raising areana...but to continue to beat them in the areana of ideas.

The anti children idiots forget that even if all those “pro environmentalists” self abort, that still leaves more room, resources for those who refuse to follow the delusional lemmings over thew population cliff.

Unless the antis demand the pro baby faction to “abort” their babies too.

Since they are not reproducing, the only way to perpetuate their vile beliefs is to brainwash our children. I have a feeling the Global Warming Cult won't matter in 20 years time when its principal adherents are dead and gone.

Yep, it’s probably better that the wackos don’t have kids. The ‘breeders’ will rule.

I have said it before....

Those who would have this “children are bad for the planet” view of life...these are the ones who are bad for the planet.

They serve no function, excepting their own selfish hedonistic fulfillment.

Talk about selfish!

It is the function of organic life forms to procreate. (Or, as the Bible encourages us “Be fruitful and multiply”)

Fulfilling this basic, primal reason for being ((Which has also received the Seal of Approval from God, Himself), is the only reason for drawing breath.

These chowderheads are wastes of DNA and they are not only sucking up perfectly good oxygen, they are “polluting the planet” with their self described selfish, pointless carbon emissions.....

That's exactly right. That's why they want to keep a stranglehold on the school situation.

For these people, the works of Man are a curse rather than a blessing. Otherwise, why the concerted drive to shutdown Western economies through completely irrational and arbitrary CO2 emissions reduction goals whose only purpose is to deprive every one of the stuff of life? Behind the GW Cult is the belief technological progress is dangerous to the well-being of the planet. The unspoken belief is human beings are the real danger to the planet as well.

A planet without a single human being on it flies in the face of the Divine Message: "be fruitful and multiply."

Exactly...and makes it all the more clear who precisley it is that is inpriring their cause. We are fighting against principalities and powers of darkness in high places that are attacking us on all fronts be it raising families, marriage, morality, education, our basic fundamental liberties, physical attacks from radical Islam and other enemies (ie. Red China), etc., etc. It all ultimately imminates from the same dark place..

That is a critical message to drive home. Without government indoctrination centers, children would again derive the bulk of their values from their parents. Leftism (”progressivism”) as a meme is parasitic. Remove the vector (indoctrination camps) and it will go extinct.

I issue a call for volunteers. All those who believe that there are too many human beings on the planet are encouraged to leave immediately, by whatever means suits your fancy.
