[10-year-old] Student Arrested After Cutting Food With Knife
Local 6.com ^ | 12/14/07

An elementary student in Marion County was arrested Thursday after school officials found her cutting food during lunch with a knife that she brought from home, police said.

The 10-year-old girl, a student at Sunrise Elementary School in Ocala, was charged possession of a weapon on school property, which is a felony.

According to authorities, school employees spotted the girl cutting her food while she was eating lunch and took the steak knife from her.

The girl told sheriff's deputies that she had brought the knife to school on more than one occasion in the past.

Students told officials that the girl did not threaten anyone with the knife.

The girl was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

YOU WROTE:

As for the “Parents Whose Kids Use Government Schools”, I bet that school was full of students the next day. These parents fall into one or more of 4 groups:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Actually, you missed a VERY critical component of this group. You see, what is not reported in the socialist leftmedia is that the next day the school sent home letters to all of the parents about the need for more privacy invasions and liberty curtailments. They based this letter on the notion that a “dangerous felon was apprehended in the school cafeteria and taken into custody for the terror and panic that was caused by bringing a dangerous weapon onto school grounds.”
The terror and panic was because the student DARED to think for themselves and the teachers panicked. How DARE that ingrate not use the government provided plastic butter knife!! It was meant to teach everyone a lesson by the LUNATICS WHO RUN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL INSANE ASYLUMS!
YOU WROTE:
There’s only one solution—ban knives. Also, all food needs to be manufactured in pre-cut pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Naa, there are several solutions, for example they could BAN THE FOOD (that one makes the most sense to the lunatics who run the public school asylums).

“Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” - Manuel II Palelologus

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Doesn’t that describe the public schools? They do teach Islam by the way, but Christianity is STRICTLY forbidden. It wouldn’t surprise me that if you mention the name of Jesus Christ that you might get taken to Juvenile Detention for some felony charge of daring to commit [insert insanity here]!!!
Why don’t teachers stand up?
Because teachers are the ones allowed (actually ordered) not to think. It makes work so much easier for teachers and administrators.
It is - in our opinion - child abuse. To Big Brother it is setting the example, Obey of Else!!
Cutting food with a knife is now a crime in the school cafeteria!
I'd laugh, because it's so outrageous. But, I'm not, because I'm sure the parents are p.o.'d!!
Teachers should do what other professionals would do. They would refuse to take on the project.
And then you'd have all the Christian teachers leave the schools, people who might actually be doing something positive for students, though their hands truly are tied.
What would be left if all the GOOD people left the public schools????
I’m speechless. What’s going on in our country!
You’re serious? You really don’t know?
I was being facetious.
You’ve mistaken what I said. I am talking about the teachers exerting their discipline over children in the school. I am not talking about bad teaching, I am talking about discipline. Their hands are tied in this regard. The administration is afraid of lawsuits and they will fire the teachers. If the teachers try to manage discipline in ways that were fine back when I was school, they are vulnerable to lawsuits from parents and the schools are terribly afraid of parents these days. It’s almost like in many cases it’s the parents AGAINST the schools - they should be allies but they are often not.
As for your opinion of an architect approving of a building that he “knew” would hurt someone (and nobody can ever KNOW, they might suspect), or a builder or contractor cutting corners, you must be very naive. It happens all the time; every day; and as for doctors, well they might not deliberately perform poorly, but many, many doctors have made errors and hidden behind the “good old boy” network that exists among physicians. I admire doctors greatly but there is NO profession, not one, that exist in the perfect light you seem to cast. I have plenty of issues with today’s teachers, but you seem to have a lot of vitriol towards them. It’s not so easy, trust me. I know what kids are like these days and a lot of them are smart-alecks to the nth degree.
Good point. I have several Christian friends that stay in public schools because they feel they can be a light in a dark place. Thank God for them and their dedication. Thank God, I say.
Who are these people on FR that think every kid’s family gives a hoot anyway. A lot of these kids are just “surviving” with a capital “S.” The parents don’t care and the system doesn’t either. It takes just one teacher to make a difference; just one.
Exactly right. I think about everyone I know remembers at least ONE teacher who made a difference in their lives. I'm lucky to have fond memories of many more than that....and each one made a difference in my life....and still yet another (third grade teacher) who turned the academic world around for my now 22 year old daughter. I thank God for that teacher, and we still keep in touch. Just got a nice Christmas card from him.
Their hands are tied in this regard.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The hands of teachers are not tied. They should do what other professionals do. Refuse the job and/or quit.
Other professionals do not let bureaucrats or parents tell them how to do their job.
If the parents and/or bureaucrats are not allowing teachers to apply discipline that works, then the teacher should quit the job!
In my previous post, I plainly stated that perfection did NOT exist in other professions. However, we do not see armies of professionals plainly, openly, and blatantly hurting their clients. Teachers, on the other hand, day after day, **allow**,**permit**, and ** willing acquiesce to** demands from bureaucrats and parents.
They need to be given total lobotomies and made into gardens....they would be more useful....
Good one, those without sin cast the first stone! Did the person who does’t use a knife call the authorities? I remember school food sometimes a knife is not enough how about a husky chainsaw! That would probably be legal. In this day and age what is common sense?
Today, school food is probably some type of "tofu patty with organic dressing" that looks like $*!t and tastes like it, too....
The girl probably didn't NEED the knife, she could drink her lunch thru a straw....
But then again, when I went to school, every male (and some females) carried knives and all the trucks had rifle racks in the back windows with guns in them....mine included....
No stabbings, no shootings....
Go figure....
