You’ve mistaken what I said. I am talking about the teachers exerting their discipline over children in the school. I am not talking about bad teaching, I am talking about discipline. Their hands are tied in this regard. The administration is afraid of lawsuits and they will fire the teachers. If the teachers try to manage discipline in ways that were fine back when I was school, they are vulnerable to lawsuits from parents and the schools are terribly afraid of parents these days. It’s almost like in many cases it’s the parents AGAINST the schools - they should be allies but they are often not.

As for your opinion of an architect approving of a building that he “knew” would hurt someone (and nobody can ever KNOW, they might suspect), or a builder or contractor cutting corners, you must be very naive. It happens all the time; every day; and as for doctors, well they might not deliberately perform poorly, but many, many doctors have made errors and hidden behind the “good old boy” network that exists among physicians. I admire doctors greatly but there is NO profession, not one, that exist in the perfect light you seem to cast. I have plenty of issues with today’s teachers, but you seem to have a lot of vitriol towards them. It’s not so easy, trust me. I know what kids are like these days and a lot of them are smart-alecks to the nth degree.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The hands of teachers are not tied. They should do what other professionals do. Refuse the job and/or quit.

Other professionals do not let bureaucrats or parents tell them how to do their job.

If the parents and/or bureaucrats are not allowing teachers to apply discipline that works, then the teacher should quit the job!

In my previous post, I plainly stated that perfection did NOT exist in other professions. However, we do not see armies of professionals plainly, openly, and blatantly hurting their clients. Teachers, on the other hand, day after day, **allow**,**permit**, and ** willing acquiesce to** demands from bureaucrats and parents.
