SALT LAKE CITY When it comes to the big theological questions about God, Mormons and evangelical Christians will have to agree to disagree, a Mormon church authority said Wednesday.
"They're locked into the Nicene Creed . . . We're locked into the restoration and the experiences of Joseph Smith," said Elder M. Russell Ballard, a senior leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "And that will undoubtedly be an issue until God himself comes."

Differences between Clinton and Huckabee? Well, they are both statists for one . . . hmmm.
Oh, yeah, one of them has had a license to preach.

Hello Old Mountain man.
How are you?
Here are some things to contemplate by Josh McDowell of Campus Crusade for Christ:
I have posted them several times - no Mormon ever addresses them. They just tell me that if they took "their time" to answer "every Mormon hater" they would have no time.
Interesting. Anyway - I never posted them to you - so I thought I would see. It is Chapter 33 of Josh's book. McDowell is an incredible Chritian by the way - and his life shows it.
I would appreciate it if you could address just a few of these in detail.
Thanks - and take care.
A Ready Defense
The Book of Mormon and Archaeology
Mormon scholars can be frustrated and embarrassed understandably when they realize that after all the years of work by archaeologists, both Mormon and others:
1. No Book of Mormon cities have been located.
2. No Book of Mormon names have been found in New World Inscriptions.
3. No genuine inscriptions have been found in Hebrew in America.
4. No genuine inscriptions have been found in America in Egyptian or anything similar to Egyptian, which could correspond to Joseph Smith's "reformed Egyptian."
5. No ancient copies of Book of Mormon scriptures have been found.
6. No ancient inscriptions of any kind in America which indicate that the ancient inhabitants had Hebrew or Christian beliefs have been found.
7. No mention of Book of Mormon persons, nations, or places has been found.
8. No artifact of any kind which demonstrates the Book of Mormon is true has been found.
9. Rather than finding supportive evidence, Mormon scholars have been forced to retreat from traditional interpretations of Book of Mormon statements. 15/12

Show me the archeological evidence for Moses. We will!
Wow!
This is so exciting!
Greyfoxx - will you ping the Christians and let us show Old Mountain Man the archeological (sic) evidence for Moses?
To: SkyPilot
He wouldn’t go to the sites on the Web to see the evidence ... kind of reminds me of the exchange with the rich man in Hell and his request to send someone back from the grave to warn his brothers of the terrible fate that awaits them ...

Really think there is archeological evidence of Moses from the time of Moses? Where? Not the sites, where is the evidence located? How long did it take for it to be found?

Do you suppose the one whom believes there are golden plates which were ‘given to Joe Smith for translating’ but which were taken back by the Angel Moroni would accept the tablets of stone, the ephod of Manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded?

“What is an evangelical?”
Good question. Ask one of them. Other than they go out and evangelize (such as missionary work), I’m unsure as to what else they include in their definition of themselves. I’d be interested to hear the definitions given too. Go to it, evangelicals, what are you?

Don't look now, but the Church's power and influence are worldwide. Utah and Nevada are small potatoes, and, with respect to America, you've missed the train on that one, too........

Mormon Missionary In Mexico, Gets His Nose Busted Up And Arrested Falsly, But Gets Bailed Out By The Bishop, Just In Time For 3 Baptisms!! Wow!!
Here are a couple of articles from a Utah TV Station and then a Utah Newspaper, describing what happened exactly. I'll make my comments after the articles. This is unbelievable!!Channel 4 in Utah reported:LDS Missionaries Attacked In Mexico
Watch Video
A Davis county missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his companion are home from the hospital after a brutal attack.
It happened last Saturday while the missionaries were serving in Durango, which is part of the Mexico Torreon Mission. The elders apparently tried to stop an assault on a woman when they were severely beaten.
Gary Peterson received the call from his stake president saying his missionary son was in the hospital, along with his companion.
"It was pretty scary but a peaceful feeling knowing he was all right. He's out doing the Lord's work and that's what we're proud of."
20-year old Zach Peterson and his companion, Elder Zuniga were out knocking on doors when they saw a woman in trouble. The woman was screaming and pleading for a man to leave her alone. Zach's father says the missionaries confronted the man, who turned and hit Zach square in the jaw.
Zach fell hard to the ground, was knocked unconscious and started seizing. His companion was left to defend himself and was also punched in the face.
When police arrived, Zach's companion, still conscious, was hauled to jail with the man who'd just beat him up.
Police apparently wanted to keep both men in custody until they could get Zach's side of the story. When Zach regained consciousness the next day (Sunday), Elder Zuniga was bailed out of jail by the local bishop just in time to perform 3 new convert baptisms. Right after the baptisms, he went straight to the hospital for reconstructive surgery.
"All parents worry for their sons safety, but we realize what he's doing is what we feel is the lord's work and they will be protected no matter. There will be incidents, but always watched over and protected." says Gary.
Doctors say Elder Zach Peterson will be fine. He'll just need to spend a week in bed to recover. His companion, Elder Zuniga is recovering from surgery as well, and is expected to be back in good health soon, too.
Both Elders are expected to serve out the remainder of their missions in Mexico.

They were sent by Brigham Young. It was their mission to colonize Southern Utah. None of them did end up in Washington County. Parowan is in Iron County and Panguitch is in Garfield County. They are still there. When the group made it to the area of SLC, "This is the place" was proclaimed.
After being washed away a couple of years, the remaining folks from Old Paria left the sand and silt to their dead and probably proclaimed, "This ain't the place."
